Overall, I felt the hotel was very nicely done with great local touches while still keeping an international atmosphere. I also wanted to point out the great flexibility of the hotel, allowing me to change my meal reservations from 3 dinners at Elements (I was on a package deal) to one at Elements and combining the remaining two meals at Elements to a dinner at Atelier. This allowed me to not have to dine at the same restaurant as well as opening up a slot for me to explore a local restaurant. However, there were two things that I'd like to point out that the hotel can improve upon. The first is the staffing at the club lounge (and in general) is not enough. There were many moments where I was left to wait, to the point where using standard facilities (like the check-in counter, or breakfast at Elements) would have been a more positive experience. Breakfast on 12/21 was where the understaffing really showed, where it took over an hour to complete breakfast; many guests left in the middle of their meal since service was horribly slow. However, the second point us what I would really want the hotel to work on - CoVID countermeasures. Largely, two things I'd like to point out. (1) Temperature screening us inconsistent. I was checked when I first arrived, but never anytime afterwards (or should I say, the thermometer station was unmanned). (2) During my meal at Atelier, my wife and I noticed that the staff (He was Italian, I think his name is Marco?) preparing the dishes (in the open kitchen) prepping a sauce, tasting it with the same spoon which was quickly rinsed it under the faucet and returned into the mixing bowl. I pointed this out to one of the servers (Japanese male, responsible for serving and explaining the dishes). This is where I felt the hotel can improve on - in detail, three things. (i) The Japanese server proceeded to quietly scold the staff in front of me, I felt that was not a great experience both for myself and the staff. (ii) Nothing was cleared. After the scolding (and then the staff responding back that he did not put the spoon back in) none of the utensils were changed and no follow up. I guess there is no trust in what a customer points out. And finally (iii) I felt that this is at the fault of the hotel for not putting in proper operation guidelines.A person putting together a meal will need to taste it, to make sure it's good. If the hotel were to put in operational guidelines to ensure tasting can be done while still making it very obvious that it is hygienic, I would not have to be writing this email. Needless to say, our dinner experience was ruined that night. I actually shared the above comment with IHG Guest Relations (on 25 Dec), which the agent was extremely prompt on getting back to me and assured that I would get a response back from the hotel about it within 48 hours. Unfortunately, the hotel never contacted me. I then asked guest relations again (on 5 Jan) to follow up with th

Amane Resort Gahama

Beppu|2.37km from Tatsumaki Jigoku
We were a bit hesitant ourselves about this ryokan - we've been spoiled in staying at some of the very top ryokans throughout the country, and while Amane Resort Gahama is highly rated and understood this property to be kid-friendly, we weren't sure if it would meet our own high bar. Thankfully, our concerns were completely unfounded. It deftly balances the needs for discerning adults while at the same time doing a wonderful job catering to the needs of young families. This was part of a multi-generation trip, with four families (two of them with two young children each) and four total rooms as part of our booking. While Amane Resort Gahama (and its sister property, Amane Resort Seikai) is located along a bustling street in a nondescript area of Beppu (and next to KFC as well as Nitori, a large home furniture store), once we stepped inside we were ushered into a different world. Namely, the panoramic view of the ocean gave the ryokan an air of tranquility. We booked four rooms - all in the tower (there are separate Villas on site, but we wanted the view.) All of the rooms were Japanese-Western style with a generous 90 square meters of space. Two of the rooms were on the third floor, one was on the fifth floor, and one was a ”special room” on the top floor (10F.) Of the four, I'd say that the fifth floor room was my preference, in that it allowed unobstructed views (the Villa rooftops were visible when peering out of the balcony of the 3F rooms) that were not too far off from the 10F room, and it had a bedroom that was separate from the living room, whereas the 10F special room was an open, junior suite style. Somehow, it also seemed that the top floor room was a bit tighter in space, despite the specifications. All rooms offered both indoor and outdoor Onsen (hot springs) baths, and that's what we were after. Of course, the children wanted to enjoy the larger communal baths. Unfortunately, it's located in Seikai, meaning you'd either have to walk outdoors for 5 minutes (through the Nitori parking lot) or take a complimentary shuttle - a bit of a hassle, yes, although we wound up bouncing between both properties for some of our meals (more on that later.) Gahama catered nicely to families with young children. They offered child-sized slippers as well as Yukata and Samue robes that were small enough to even fit a 2-year old. Our meals (for 11 total people) on both nights were served in a private room. And they offered very nice children's meals for both breakfast and dinner - they loved all of the food offerings at this property. At the same time, this ryokan would be equally suitable for adult couples... service is polished and attentive, while both the kaiseki dinner meal and French dinner course (the latter is at Amane Resort Seikai) were sophisticated and beautifully presented. And that's one of the benefits of either of the Amane ryokans - the multiple dining options allowed us to enjoy a diversity of top-notch servings. In the morning, w

I wanted to enjoy the old-fashioned Yuji and stayed overnight. It is like a hot spring inn that has been operating for about 100 years, and there are small kitchens and tableware that can be used by guests in the remnants of Yuji inn, and hell steaming outside can be used.

I stayed in a Japanese room in the earth building with three families with four years old children. Until I went, I was worried because there were many bad evaluations about the oldness of cooking, customer service and facilities in the kuchikomi, but it was a very good inn when I actually went. I think you can see my past reviews, but I realize that it is tough for evaluation. It was an inn that I was very satisfied and wanted to give a high evaluation without regret. < Good point > The bath is the best than anything. The 6 floor has a good view, but the bath itself is normal and there is no special point to note. Recommended is the bath on the 1 floor. Very large open-air bath is worth it alone. There was also a bath that bubbled like a hot water or a Jacuzzi, and the child was very happy. The dishes were above average. Of course, there are many inns that make better dishes, but there is no misfortune like the bad review. First of all, is the dish that has been devised half and the dish that is a little disappointing half? I think it is higher than the average if I think about the price. The sashimi criticized by multiple kuchikomi was also covered with film so that the timing of the meal was perfect at 々. The dining room and corridor were renewed and very bright and modern. The room was old, but it was cleanly maintained and there was no inconvenience. The service was very good for most staff. Especially the elderly female staff were very friendly, polite and nice. The room was a Japanese room with a main 12 tatami mats and a large enough size with a plus front room. Above all, it was an outstanding view of Beppu city and Beppu Bay. The room with a good view up to this is a level that is not very memorable. It may vary depending on the room to stay, but at least the earth building seems to be equipped with all rooms facing Beppu Bay, so you should enjoy the same view. By the way, it was on the 9th floor. Wifi was flying for each room and the speed was fast. < bad point > the attitude of the male staff at the receptionist (a little older) was worried. There is also a review of another person, but even if you ask questions that you don't know, you can read them because they are written on paper. Especially, there was a time margin, not the situation where the next person was waiting and crowded, but it was a pretty cold response. Other than this, it was generally warm and comfortable. In the unrenewed part, the oldness of the facility was visible. The corridor to the hot spring on the first floor and the back side of the building visible from the window. However, it is not dirty or uncomfortable just saying old. It was a little troublesome that there were few towels. Bath towels and hand towels are one piece per person. Is this it? I thought it was a very good inn overall. I think the bad reviews of the past are being properly viewed and improved. Or is it a harassment from the same business? (I didn't think it was particularly problematic this time) I recommend it with confidence.

Although the location is relatively biased, there are no restrictions on self-driving people. There are hotels or residential buildings nearby. Those who want to visit the supermarket must be in the seaside city. But the cleanliness of this hotel, the quality of the food is very good, very rich, and the price is cheaper than most of Beppu, indoor or outdoor hot springs are very comfortable, cost-effective! If you want to see the sea, this one may not be suitable for you.

At first, I was a little worried about the location, but it was not a problem because it was on the bus route, so I could get there in about 10 minutes on foot. It was so comfortable and nice because there were many amenities and restaurants around. To review the accommodation, it was by far the best .. The manager's grandfather was so kind and pleasant, and he spoke a little English, so communication was easy. The private hot springs and the big baths were all the best, and the water was good, so I really want to go again. The room was spacious and nice, and I thought it was uncomfortable to think that there was no private shower room, but it was so comfortable because there were all private shower rooms and massage chairs. This is a hostel I really want to recommend to my acquaintances. I'm going to spend so well.

The hotel location is very good, right next to Baichi Hell and Hai Hell, and you can walk to the sights; but it is a little far from JR station, the bus is rickety for half an hour, and the fare is expensive, watching the fare rise all the way, Seeing my heart pounding. The Japanese-style room was booked, including one breakfast and one dinner. After two days of stay, the dinner was Hell steamed and rich beef, and the breakfast was a Japanese-style set meal. On the side, there are buffet meals. When I went to dinner, I helped to make the bed, tatami was super comfortable, the room was very quiet, and I could see the sea. There are two indoor and outdoor hot springs, and there are not many people in the hot springs. There is a private soup next to it, and there is also a free lees mask. The iron wheel 2 station is right next to the hotel, and it is convenient to get to Yufuin. The hotel staff was very enthusiastic. On the first day, a Chinese guy came to the reception and took them all the way to the room. They also introduced various facilities. The Japanese girl who received the reception was very nice. The smile from the heart was very warm. All in all, a great hotel.

It's a small inn with 2 to 30 rooms. Is it difficult to renovate? The large public bath felt quite old, and the atmosphere of the room was somewhat old-fashioned. In addition, the overall cleaning was thorough and I was able to spend a comfortable time. I had a double main dish of hell steamed and steak. Also, the free beer, orange juice, and coffee service in the break room was great. During the corona crisis, we stayed overnight on a Sunday, but the number of customers seemed to be about 25%, and the number of employees was the minimum number, so it was quiet. P.S. Pola's Kalahari was in the room's amenities, and Pola's Aroma Esse and Shiseido's skin care products were placed in the dressing room of the large public bath.
