Family-friendly Hotels in Berchtesgaden

The pictures in the website do not do this hotel justice. Such a lovely hotel. We stayed half board, some of the evening meals were hit and miss, but breakfast and some evening meals were lovely. Especially the swordfish. Beer is great taken in the lovely beer garden, with views over the mountains. Train and bus station across the road, with trips to most major attractions within 20 minutes of the hotel, they were quite regular and always punctual. You even get a free guest card which gives you free travel to most attractions some with discounted entry. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable, we opted for an upgrade to a balcony room, which gave great views of the mountains and the river below. All the staff gave great service, but especially Sam on reception who was amazingly helpful and always friendly - just sorry we ran out of money so I couldn’t leave him a tip, but we will definitely returning and will ensure I put something away - sorry Sam x

We enjoyed the hotel as an overnight stop on the way to Vienna and are completely happy and satisfied. Our room with a mountain view and balcony was attractively furnished, very quiet and very clean. Yes, the ambience is a bit stuck in the past, but that's what makes it so charming. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, fresh sausage and cheese, no pre-baked rolls!! and the view of the mountains from the restaurant is fantastic. The staff were very friendly, competent and helpful and always ready for a chat. As I said, it couldn't be more perfect, which is why we will definitely come back...and then obviously for a bit longer.

On the half slope, you can see the Alps in the distance and the scenery is good. A few minutes drive to the town center, there are meals, DM, supermarket. It is quite convenient from King Lake and the magic forest about ten kilometers. There is no service staff after 10 pm in the hotel. We arrived in the middle of the night and pressed the emergency number. The store opened the car and came over from the house to open the door. It was still very good. The breakfast was quite rich, and everyone gave the designated table with a brand name on the table. The hotel room is large, larger than the average European hotel, and the heating is very warm. The only dissatisfaction is that the quotation is not the same as the actual one, saying that there is a tax.

There is a shortcut from the train station to the hotel, but it requires walking up a flight of stairs and an uphill stone path, making it impossible to walk with suitcases. If you bring suitcases, it is recommended to take a taxi to the hotel. The hotel is very old and traditional. After taking one flight of stairs in the hotel, you can take the elevator to the higher floors. The house is very spacious and the lights are very dim. It feels very dim in the room at night. There is only one electric socket at the bedside, and there is no table for placing mobile phones next to the other electric sockets, which is a bit inconvenient. The toilet and hand-washing area are in different locations, so it is a bit inconvenient to wash hands after using the toilet. The check-in staff are a bit cool, but they will always greet you. The room is spacious, you can open two large suitcases without being stressed, it is clean and quiet, and there were two small spiders in the room during the 3 nights. There is no air conditioning. It is not hot in October, so it is enough. Bathing water pressure is adequate. There is hair dryer provided.

I spent a week at the Alpenhotel Seimler. It is located a little outside of Berchtesgaden, but since you get half board and can easily walk to the mine and town center, it is fine. The parking lot seems quite large, but it was still difficult to find a parking space in the evenings. Unfortunately, the first negative experience occurred at check-in. The employee ignored me completely for quite a while until I eventually drew attention to myself. It is not a problem to complete a process quickly, but I should at least signal to the guest that I have registered them. She was very unfriendly and was often rude and unfriendly during the week, even towards other guests. The next negative surprise followed shortly afterwards. I was given my room key and naturally assumed that the room was prepared and ready to move into. A mistake, the beds looked chaotic, there was rubbish in the bin and the used towels were on the floor in the bathroom (see photos). The terse statement at reception was that the cleaning staff had not yet finished, it was very busy. I travel a lot, but I have never received the key to a room that was not ready for occupancy. Since the balcony offered a beautiful view of the Watzmann, I waited there. The cleaning staff, who eventually appeared, were very surprised to find me in the room and communication was only possible in English. After they were finished, the room was fine and the vacation could begin. The room was well furnished and the bathroom with shower and bathtub was new. The wellness area is new and beautifully laid out, but probably a bit too small for the number of hotel guests. The breakfast buffet offered a good selection of hot and cold dishes. Dinner could be chosen at breakfast in the morning; there were three dishes to choose from. The soups in the evening were good and the salad buffet offered a large, good selection. The main courses were mostly OK and there was something for everyone. The desserts were also good. Unfortunately, the staff in the evening were always a bit overwhelmed and were not visible at times. You had to wait a very long time to get the bill, for example. The hotel itself is good, but urgently needs to work on the friendliness of some of the staff and the organization.

It was opened by an old couple. The people were very friendly and kind. The old man didn't speak English very well but the communication problem was not big. The breakfast had egg bread ham fruit coffee, simple and simple nutrition. Be careful not to miss the breakfast time. The old couple still have rules, can't wash clothes in the room, dry clothes, they need to wash clothes, they will recommend the laundry room in the town center of Berchtesgaden. Hotel houses are more old-fashioned, please be cautious if you are not used to this kind of bed and breakfast style. One disadvantage is that the location of the hotel is slightly further from the centre of Berchtesgaden, but each guest gets a bus card during their stay, the bus in the Berchtesgaden area can be taken free of charge, and when you leave the store, you can go back. Just do it (if the card is lost, you have to pay 5 euros). We booked according to the price above Ctrip, but when the checkout is finished, the old man said that he will give special discounts to Chinese tourists. No matter what the price we originally ordered, we actually paid almost half of the original price. , gave us a big surprise.
