Beautiful historical building ideally located in the middle of the old city, seconds from the main square. The rooms vary in size and price and this is certainly not a budget choice. My room was fabulous, being dual aspect, with sofa and luxurious bed. Fantastic shower, woolly towels, safe, coffee maker, robe. You get the picture. Spaces can be rented in a nearby car park for about €15 ight. It’s right near the top of the high town, so the drive up through narrow cobbled streets can get the heart racing. Unless you have no choice I’d skip the car and use public transport and the funicular train. A word on the breakfast, served by a charming waitress who put up with my requests for cappuccino refills. Everything was top quality - fruit, breads, coffee, cheeses. Nothing hot, but flavourful and fresh. There are a few negatives. It’s quite noisy as the bells ring regularly, plus the lift always felt on the brink of marooning me between floors, but in some respects this added to the charm. It beats the chain hotels hands down.
