Difficult to review because of a range of impressions: City Club Hotel is in a good location and has reasonable prices. The first and second floor public rooms are stunning for their historic aspects and visual appeal. The many areas for quiet reading or conversation are comfortable and attractive. The included breakfast is a plentiful buffet, delicious and beautifully presented. Junior suite is worth the extra cost because of its size and cozy furnishings, but the bathroom is quite small and has the same issues as many hotels -- insufficient counter space, hooks, towel rods -- making it a challenge to navigate. The unfortunate surprise (and some may disagree): no TV in rooms. Welcoming clerk said "It's in keeping with a 1920's hotel," but we had a refrigerator, hair dryer and WiFi, so that justification didn't work. (There is a communal TV in the "History Room.") Today's travelers expect a certain minimum in amenities, and in-room TV is within that expectation.
