Sercotel Coliseo Bilbao

The only good thing about this “hotel” is the location. There is no lobby so you never get to see the staff which is a good thing. When checking in we found the reception in a corner somewhere on one of the floors. The staff were not very bothered and were extremely cold. Staff in many hotels in Spain actually have this attitude that they’re doing you a favour forgetting that there are so many other options to go on holiday for cheaper. Experiencing this in Bilbao which has nothing but Pintxos is even more provocative. The hotel rate was expensive and May is off season so I would imagine in August prices rise to €250 a night which is ridiculous as this is not even a 2 star. Room was basic and falling apart. The bed was uncomfortable and my child’s bed was like a yoga mat on a couch. Overall depressing until I saw the cleaner which made the experience hazardous. Even though we were in the room she put clean towels that we never asked for to rest on the toilet brush that cleans every single toilet of the floors she cleans and to my horror saw the toilet rolls she would eventually leave for us under the towels on the handle of the toilet brush meaning the last one was soggy from the dirty toilet brush. Absolutely shocking. Disgusting. Filthy while she knew we were watching her. You can imagine what the cleaners of this “hotel” do when they’re alone. This is the culture of this place.
