I have previously stayed here and had a pleasant experience I decided to rebook again for a weekend getaway . After booking online I called to enquire if an early check in would be an option as I was making a 2.5 hour drive up from the midlands . The “gentleman “ who answered the call ( and I use the term gentleman very reluctantly , as there wasn’t anything gentle about his tone ) seemed to become very perplexed very quickly on hearing my enquiry . He wasted no time in telling me no , an early check in more then likely wouldn’t be an option as customers check out at 11am . When I tried to explain my reasons for asking he really wasn’t interested & just continued very abruptly I might add , to shout at me that no no you can try calling after 12 to ask but no it’s very unlikely you could arrange an early check in . I told him I wasn’t looking to check in for free & that I’d happily pay extra but his tone was one which made me extremely upset at how I was being spoken to . When I asked his name he told me it’s was Ushan and that he was the reception manager. ( shocking customer service is all I can say ). Needless to say I cancelled my booking and am extremely disappointed. Won’t be booking here again either

Quite frankly we do not know where to start, If I could I would give ZERO stars The only redeeming feature for this hotel (calling it a hotel is a joke) is that it is very close to the M6 making it a perfect stop off on a long journey. The whole place smells of damp really smells it's quite over powering in both the basement corridors & our executive rooms bathroom. How could you possibly call this an executive room, the carpet was minging, the only soft seat chair looked like it was 50 years old which contained so much grime who knows what it had been used for previously. There was a bedside table missing, the furniture looked as if it was from the 1960's. As for the bathroom ZERO ventilation, mould all around the bath & basin, the shower had been leaking meaning the bath side panel was rotten, AND stains on the ceiling clearly from the room above leaking. The food was dire, served in dirty dark unattractive rooms. The night we arrived we went along to the restaurant NO one was seated & we asked for a table - the rude waiter said have you booked, I said no and was told to return to reception to book a table. Talk about jobs worth this attitude was beyond a joke. I wish we had gone by our instincts and ventured to a local pub. We sat down & we're given a fairly extensive menu but then told the chef was off, and only burgers & fish & chips could be served. Our food arrived it was passable BUT very expensive for what it was. The drinks prices were extortionate. At best it was Wimpy standard, but The Ivy prices. We heard other people complain about the poor choice of food available. The breakfast was poor, very slow service by people who clearly did not want to be there, why is this served in the darkest room in the hotel. Perhaps so you can not see how dire the whole experience is ?? All in all it is fair to say we will NEVER return. This place should be demolished and a new hotel built on site. The service and staff are in good quality and friendly. However, for amenities, it should be much better if there is a wardrobe with hangers to hang more clothes. Plus, if the included breakfast have hash brown and less salty, that would be good. Appreciated that the refill and the moma porridge is fast and good. Will recommend people to stay with it while travelling nearby Preston

Hotel sanitation feels OK, meals are poor, the door of the room is not locked, and it is not very safe. The windows are noisier towards high speeds. However, the work enthusiasm of the hotel is still more enthusiastic.

Beautiful hotel, staff friendly and knowledgeable, food lovely, leisure facilities clean and staff very welcoming. Will definitely recommend and can’t wait to return.

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding. Check in went smoothly. 2 single beds in room very comfy.3 coat hangers for 2 people to hang wedding outfits and 2 days /Night outfits!!!. Carpet in room was stained and needed a good clean or better still replacing.the bathroom !!!! I think its had a refurb but they forgot to replace the bath.where the bath panel meets the top of the bath was disgusting all it needs is a toothbrush to clean the gunge out.maybe the housekeepers need extra time in each room to get them up to scratch. We ate in the dining room on our first night. I had the steak and ale raised pie it was the best ive ever tasted. My 3 companions all had fish and chips which they all enjoyed but they could not eat it all( very large portions).we had breakfast 2 mornings could not fault it there was such a good choice. Full english, croissants and pastries, cereals, toast and fruit juice. The dining room and kitchen staff get 10 out of 10. But as i said earler housekeeping not up to standard 6 out of 10

When we arrived the barrier was down. We had to do that awkward thing of move the car over as far as you can and then stretch to reach the button to contact staff. Unfortunately the staff member who answered the gate intercom was a little hard to understand and she cut us off rather abruptly with the gate still remaining down. We pressed again and the gate allowed access. We checked in and I advised that I had already paid online via paypal. The staff advised that any payment was not an actual payment rather a hold - I would still need to pay again. If you use paypal you will know it takes several days to show on your account so I could neither prove nor disprove their claims. We got to our room and were pleased to be in an annexe as there was a wedding going on. Nice room size etc kettle, coffee machine, mugs, tea and biscuits. I checked in the bathroom for glasses and there were none available - I would assume that a hotel charging over £100 per night would at least supply plastic cups or proper glasses to drink water from. There was plenty of storage available and a decent hairdryer. The shower was nice - however the glass door was not long enough to prevent significant amounts of water hitting the floor - the bath mat was sodden. The shower tray and grout work as well as an area near the radiator had mould/blackening to it. There was also a random hole in the ceiling - possibly an old leak? The food was great although it took a while to arrive. I did ask for mild peppercorn sauce and no mushrooms - my food arrived with mushrooms and no peppercorn sauce. We left the restaurant believing that the meal would be added to the room - a member of staff followed us out advised that many people may have sat at the table and they needed a room number (this was given when we arrived at the restaurant) and could we pay now?!; perhaps they need a better booking/checking system in place? We then went through to the bar there were several tables which had been left with glasses on them. They were only removed when we sat at one of these tables, the table remained unwiped. The two staff on didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks and didn't interact with other people who were hovering also intending to purchase drinks. I eventually took my chair and sat in front of the bar waiting for the staff to return from a patrol; neither asked if they could help so I shouted over. I believe this is indicative more of a lack of training in customer service than rudeness. Children from the wedding were becoming a nuisance by this point and were pretty much unchallenged by staff. They were running in and out, up and down stairs taking milk from the fridges and leaving plastic rings on the floor. They made enough noise to be heard on at least the first floor as the fire doors were help open by magnets. In our room we hoped for peace and quiet only to be left disappointed by music echoing over from the wedding - this finished just before midnight. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The gym was lovely and quiet at 8am although the sauna hadn't quite heated up when we headed in there around 8.40ish. Breakfast was mostly tasty - the black pudding lacked any flavour - the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great. The tea was the wrong colour and tasted like very cheap teabags. There were bits of chips on the floor from the food service the night before.
