Friendly, comfortable and clean hotel. Good breakfast. Spa was busy with not enough seating.

A comfortable, quiet place to stay where the staff go out of their way to ensure you have all you need. Comfortable and well equipped rooms in the stunning Gloucestershire countryside. I was able to get a full night’s sleep and enjoy a delicious breakfast the next morning. The hotel even has a resident cat 🐈‍⬛

This is a lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. We stayed 1 (Saturday) night in June & really enjoyed ourselves. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable & well appointed with everything we needed (we were in the extension, rather than the original building). The spa is nicely laid out with plenty of space for everyone & is a very nice place to spend a couple of hours - tip would be to contact the hotel beforehand to make sure you can book the spa time you want as if they are busy you might be disappointed. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant - the food was very nice, as was the wine, & the service incredibly attentive. Same can be said of breakfast too. Other reviews look to have criticised this hotel for having additional hot breakfast options that you pay extra for but we found that the price inclusive hot breakfast options were plentiful & all we needed (& the add ons were not expensive). Every member of staff we came across was very competent & helpful & we had a fabulous stay - thank you! PS the hotel does have a resident cat that other reviews have commented on as being a negative but we disagree & thought the cat just adds to the hotel's charm - if the presence of the cat bothers you, just ask the staff & they will shoo it away

Honestly I am so happy to have had our wedding at Hatherley. We couldn’t have asked for any better. All staff were completely attentive kind and professional. Nothing was too much for anyone. I would recommend Hatherley to anyone else getting married. It couldn’t have been more special! Special thanks to Mel and Alex who truly were the best! We had complements all day about how great the day was by so many guests - a massive reflection on them both!

very disappointed. I was part of a group celebrating a number of birthdays. The food was inedible at times others it was bland. The breakfasts were ok but on Sunday much of the cold buffet was gone and not refilled. Some waiting staff rude others clearly stressed but pleasant. Be careful when booking at weekends - the two proms meant that ordinary guests could not access the outside seating area and the wedding party kept us up to 2am. The hotel totally messed up our bills . Our room was ok but lacked normal facilities and the coffee maker did not work. The reception staff need to work on their people skills. Would not stay here again

Shame could be so much better! Communication prior to arrival was poor. Phones don’t get answered and difficult to communicate in general. I expected phones ringing out of control on my arrival due to this - but no one busy doing much let alone a giving like you are a guest that may need help or attending too. Not sure where my phone was ringing?! Check in fine but definitely the room not worth the price. Dated small and 2 single beds inc single mattresses together. We paid 235 and this was an offer price. This did not include spa treatments etc. booked separately to the spa. Got email few days before to say they’ve moved the spa time due to sickness - fine but when we tried to confirm ok no reply. Had lunch drinks at bar I would say pretty pricey even for a hotel - chicken Caesar salad for lunch very nice but again thought on the steep side for the bar. Arrived at spa - girls not welcoming or asked how they can help etc - doing zero other than chatting with each other. We introduced ourselves, were told changing over there pointed be here 5 mins before massage in reception. I had to ask do you have robes? Or towels ? Ah yes you have have those towels pointing to a couple laying on counter and then got up and came back with robes. Tbh a spa experience should be a pamper and feel special for a few hours. Def missing that element here. The running theme is if you want something I’m afraid you need to seek staff, ask and hope they can do it. Arrived for treatment 5 mins early - 4.55. Still sat there at 5.10 no explanation of sorry we are running late - just sitting there like lemons! Go for massage explain I have stress in my shoulders and upper back and like it form. What I look for in a massage is someone to release the tension and knots. If I wanted someone to flick their fingers over me I could ask my husband. It was so poor I couldn’t wait to get out of there and just go to the bar with my husband. Back to the room to get ready for dinner. Dinner ok, food chosen cooked well. Had breakfast - service was weird tbh. There is a menu - choices for breakfast inc and then an extra if you want a proper breakfast that you would expect for a decent hotel with breakfast included. I don’t know why they make it all so complicated tbh more than it needs to be. Room spa lunch and dinner totalling £420 if say there are better places to stay sadly - I was looking forward to it to. Shame!

Reception staff were very friendly. Room wasn’t great- dirty sock in the wardrobe, double bed was 2 singles pushed together, dated decor and manky carpet. Evening meal was a let down. Too many items not available. Overly priced- £20 for a small chicken curry with half a poppadom!! Oh, and a cat strolled through the restaurant mid meal….. Breakfast was even worse. Staff seemed disinterested, toast was more like warm bread. Choices were minimal unless you wished to pay extra!! They should seek advise from Premier Inn on breakfasts, and that’s saying something!! Over 35 mins to cook an omelette in a restaurant of about 6 other people is a joke as well!! Don’t bother wasting your money staying here- although it’s in a great location and from the outside it looks wonderful, it’s actually just a big front for a tinpot version of Fawlty Towers……

Went for a family wedding, great food, amazingly friendly staff and super comfy bed - loved the decor in reception and restaurants - well looked after by all staff, nothing too much trouble - would definitely stay again. Worth it without doubt
