Small hotel at a busy junction but a great base for exploring the beautiful town and surrounding areas . Short walk to the train station and to the seafront and ferry to local towns . Rooms a little dated but very comfortable , spotlessly clean, with air conditioning , a small fridge, a safe and a well maintained bathroom with very good quality towels . Noisy traffic outside but good quality double glazing soundproofed the room . Small roof terrace was a nice space to relax and take in the sea views after a busy day sightseeing Continental breakfast was good with very good freshly made coffee . The staff were the stars in this hotel , they were welcoming , friendly and happy to help with trying to organise trips . Their recommendations for lesser known areas to visit made our holiday . The lady who looked after us at breakfast was always friendly and welcoming despite our language barriers .

The hotel is almost perfect and I recommend it. Located 10 minutes from the sea, in the historical centre. Purification and breakfast is unfair. Breakfast is wide (awareness also to allergic people) with excellent products. The only sin is the fixed presence of staff that watches the client: we arrive and in reception 5 people 1 girl check-in the others watch you; breakfast the oldest lady that watches you see what you take (He did it with anyone even putting himself next);the cleanerwoman (3rd floor) walks and watches you until you enter the room or reach the lift; and whoever accompanys you in garage stands to watch you ... nothing to hide but creates discomfort.

The breathtaking views of the sea and the picturesque town of Sestri Levante made my stay even more memorable. Upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly and professional staff, attentive to my every need throughout my stay. Check-in was smooth and efficient. My room was delightful, with a plush, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom with a rain shower. The room was immaculately clean, and the housekeeping staff went above and beyond to ensure it remained so during my stay. Breakfast was a lavish spread of freshly baked pastries, local cheeses, and various fruits and cereals, providing the perfect start to my day. I took advantage of the hotel's beautiful outdoor pool area. The pool area featured comfortable loungers, allowing for relaxing and soaking up the Mediterranean sun. The true highlight of my stay, however, was the exceptional service provided by the Grand Hotel Villa Balbi staff. They were always friendly, courteous, and eager to assist, making me feel at home. Their professionalism and attention to detail were commendable and contributed significantly to my overall experience. My stay at the Grand Hotel Villa Balbi in Sestri Levante was an unforgettable experience that exceeded my expectations. The stunning location, luxurious accommodations, and exceptional service create a magical and memorable getaway. The location of the hotel is good. Although it doesn't have its own beach, there is a small free public bath across the road with showers. There is a paid bath next to it, renting two chairs and an umbrella, 70 euros a day😱 is too exaggerated, we bought a parasol and a mat for only 35 euros and camped in the public bath. The beach conditions in the nearby town are better, and the price is only 45 Euros a day. Booked a sea view room with a nice view from the large balconies on both sides. The bar on the roof has a good view, 15 euros for a glass of cocktail, but there are free snacks, which is not bad👌

This place is memorable, but not for good reason. As a five-star hotel, you would expect great service, nice rooms, and amenities. This hotel has none. For a positive, I will say the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Much of the negative of the hotel has to do with the quality of the rooms, which is poor. The rooms only have a sheet - no duvet or comforter. Comfort-level of the beds is subjective, but it is objectively thin. Our room looked old and worn out. The ceiling looked like it had water damage, our toilet seat was cracked and the shower leaked water and was stained from the limestone in the water. Finally there were numerous flies and bugs. Additionally, there is no restaurant at the hotel, and no grounds to speak of, other than a small area near the jacuzzi. If you want to use the sister hotel's beach, it will cost an additional 50 Euro. This was the last stop of our honeymoon and we chose to stay at the hotel for the location in Portofino but away from the crowds, but it is not 5-star by any stretch, especially for the price of the hotel.
