We visited the hotel to have a couple of drinks in the bar before heading home after the beach. The signage in the car park I found confusing and therefore asked a member of staff as soon as we arrived and asked if we could stay for drinks only. I was told not to worry about the signage and that it was there to deter people visiting the beach from using the hotel car park. We have now received a parking fine as we have not entered our car registration upon entering the hotel. I have written to the general manager to be told that it is entirely my responsibility. I understand it is my responsibility, hence asking for some guidance when I entered the hotel. The manager has not acknowledged that I was given misinformation by his staff member, leading to this. It’s very disappointing as we’d had a lovely visit on the day, as local residents we would have visited more frequently, but now feel very let down by the handling of this, so won’t be going back. Please ensure you clearly read the car park signs if you visit the hotel and do not rely on information given by hotel staff regarding the parking rules, as it may be inaccurate and you may receive a fine.

Saunton is a lovely hotel in an amazing location. Rooms are lovely, clean, tidy. Lounge bar is good and bar snacks tasty. Evening menu was poor and tasteless. No local fish, meat or produce . Standard was meodcre.

Perfect location with great beach access and idyllic views. Reassuringly “old school” and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The view over the beach and Bideford Bay was very special. There are 2 excellent golf courses nearby. The staff were welcoming and efficient. The hotel was comfortable and well maintained. The cooking was of a good standard.

We booked for two nights and ended up staying 5 nights because it was so nice. Emily and Anthony were so helpful and accommodating extending our and moved us to room 416. We were so pleased, we can’t thank them enough. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. We made the most of the tennis, classes, surf and the lovely restaurant at lunch overlooking the beach. We are converted and will be back very soon!

Amazing view from our hotel room and outdoor pool. Staff very helpful and attentive and informative. Lovely food and lots of it. We rarely revisit a hotel but this is one of the few hotels we would go back to.
