We arrived at 4 pm on the day of arrival, and we were the only people at reception and one receptionist. She looked up from her computer maybe three times during the time we were there. Notified me of the upgrade I bidded for a few days before (a Junior Suite) for my wife's birthday. So, we went for a few drinks in the bar next door (owned by the hotel), and staff were messing about shouting at each other and just generally being a nuisance. Slept OK. breakfast was mediocre. We had to ask twice for some toast went out for the day came back late and the bed had been made towels replenished however nothing else had. The coffee we used the water we had used and the bath soaps we had used as it had been a walm day popped down to reception and asked for some water as we had not had any replenished which then the receptionist that had checked us in was quite load in stating that they put it in the mini fridge it was not there you could not get any more items in that mini fridge that was already in there. I felt she wanted an argument. Anyway, I'm not happy. And feel like we should of stuck with the original room I booked and saved 130 gbp great location, not great staff.

Reception staff were really friendly. The room itself, though comfortable and every you needed, was dark and a little tired looking- grout missing from tiles in the bathroom and no conditioner in the shower. The balcony was lovely- a little sun trap with great views. Went to the White Lion pub- very cold as the doors were open and the staff were just sat around- not a great atmosphere. The restaurant had lovely food but over-priced. This was the same with breakfast - lovely but again over-priced.

Big up to Connor who made the most amazing cocktails, the guys in the Clifton bar were amazing - best cocktails in Bristol
