I had a problem with payment collection, after the deposit was payed. I expected to be charged in the hostel at arrival day, but then I received an email, which said about payment failure and said that I have to call the hostel within 24 hrs. I don't have Belgian number, so had to waste money on a call(don't understand why such problems can't be resolved over email). Unfortunately my call was disrupted and I wasn't able to resolve mu issue. But the worst thing is that, when I called they receptionist started SCREAMING at me, I tried to explain him calmly a few times the situation, he kept screaming. Honestly, after this I just cancelled my booking, and no longer wish to attend the hostel with so rude people

I always forget to write review when I get home so I thought I’d write this one while I was here. I was advised that the are wasn’t safe at night but I personally felt extremely safe and comfortable as a long female traveller. I did however err on the side of caution and opt for Ubers at night and made sure to be back before dark. The neighbourhood did appear a bit run down, however 24-7 reception at the hotel provided reassurance and staff were nice and helpful. Stayed in a spacious private room, albeit not meticulously clean—found a hair and biscuit crumbs In the sofa. I liked that you could request when you wanted your room cleaned though. As the hotel is a conveyed factory, noise carries. The room noise is echoey and it’s not uncommon to hear children running down the hallway or cleaners cleaning the rooms. Neither of which disturbed my sleep and I’m a light sleeper. Good budget options for families or large groups due to ample communal spaces like kitchen, bar, and games area and the option to book one room to share. The bed was comfortable, but pillows were too flat, resulting in a stiff neck after two nights. Great location, around a 30-minute walk to Grand Place and 20 minutes to Sainte Catherine. However, disliked the lack of control over room temperature—in the room. I found the room either too hot or cold and the air as VERY dry even with the temperature control on the radiator. Approximately an hour from the airport, with the nearest metro being Comte le Flandres, get off at exit 2, facing the canal, then turn right and it’s a 10-minute walk to the hotel.

The location was very good! The private room I had was very comfy with a decent sized bathroom. I wish there was a small fridge at least for the private rooms. Upon parking my car the barrier doesn’t go up unless you get out and ask reception which stopped cars behind me from entering. My room was located perfectly at the end of the hall but there are floors and rooms that are shared and could be heard from down the hall quite loudly. The restaurant attached did not have many options available for food, only snacks and slices of pizza.

An okay budget hotel. Very close to metro station with a lot of cafes and restaurants. Staff are super friendly especially at the bar. Vending machines available at the lobby. A lot of youngsters tho but kinda okay. It didn’t bother us. For a budget-friendly option with a great location, this hotel is the ideal choice!

Without a doubt, best budget hotel I’ve ever stayed. Amazing in house guest laundry and kitchen facilities. Games and breakout areas for kids. Excellent bar, night-time movies with free popcorn. Spacious, clean and comfortable room and beds. Trendy vibe, great location… can’t say enough!

Review of frid 29.12.23: Room 211 Meininger Hotel Brussels City centre Popular hotel and very well set up for students, entertainment, bar, internet, and hostel amenities. In walking distance from Contre de Flandre train station to the hotel The room was modern and very spacious, with separate sections for toilet shower and basin un private room. Rooms and showers are radiator heated for winter. The reception lady Laurel was very helpful. Free Wi-Fi is available. We did not have breakfast. In walking distance to night markets. Beautiful atmosphere of Xmas Markets and people enjoying the celebrations. We stayed for 2 nights with a view of the canal. The Brussels Canal (French: Canal de Bruxelles) Thank you very much in the Luxembourg language: French: Merci
