M-Square Hotel

Top class hotel to stay in very clean linen change every day. Staff could not do enough for us they made our stay a real pleasure. The Leonardo hotel is in a lovely little square just off Budapest city center which make it ideal base from which to explore this wonderful city.

My recent stay at Leonardo Boutique hotel in M Square Budapest was nothing short of disappointing. My experience fell far below expectations. Let's start with the breakfast – a meal that should kickstart your day on a positive note. Unfortunately, the offerings at were subpar at best. The options were limited, and the quality left much to be desired. It was evident that little effort was put into providing guests with a satisfying dining experience. I have an allergy to dairy which I made the staff aware of however they failed to cater for me any morning. There were pancakes which my partner stated were nice. I discovered that my perfume was missing from the room. After bringing this issue to the attention of the reception staff they asked me to wait while they contacted the house keeping staff. A few minutes later the house keeper arrived at reception holding my perfume. I received no apology or acknowledgment of the situation. It was deeply disappointing to experience such unprofessional behaviour. This said there were some friendly members of staff working there. Moving on to the accommodations, the room I was provided with was shockingly small. There was barely enough space to move around comfortably, it did not match the images. Additionally, the toilet seat was broken, adding inconvenience and discomfort to an already cramped space. It was clear that the room had not been properly maintained or checked before my arrival. Furthermore, it was very difficult to open/ close the window. Overall, my stay was far from satisfactory. The points I gave were solely for the location, it is very central. I would not recommend this hotel to fellow travellers and advise management to address these issues promptly to avoid further disappointment for future guests.

The location was perfect, staff were very friendly and helpful, (check-in staff spoke fluent English), Hotel was spotless and modern inside and was easy to access by foot or road. Central Budapest location easy walking distance to the Danube, St. Stephen's Basilica and the Market regions. Recommended. Be sure to visit the unique New York Café nearby.

Perfect location could literally walk everywhere in 10 minutes, staff were great and rooms were very large

The receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. During our stay, a fire alarm went off, and several scared guests crowded in the lobby. He did nothing to ease our stress and if anything exacerbated it - he dismissed everyone’s worries as if we were crazy for being concerned, refused to call the fire brigade, refused to call the manager, and at one point left the lobby full of scared and confused guests because he was “stressed” and “needed to take a smoke break.” We explained to him multiple times that he had to call the fire brigade for us, as no guests spoke Hungarian and thus could not communicate with the firemen. He continued to refuse, stating that it was a crime to call the fire brigade (50-2000 euro fine, to be exact) when there was no fire. We asked how he was certain there was no fire, and he replied that the alarm went off due to steam coming from a shower. We asked him how he knew this, as he was not a fireman, and he snapped back that we were not firemen either. He continued to refuse to call the fire brigade even as we showed him the employee handbook and found the Hungarian fire safety laws and read them to him out loud to demonstrate that there was no fine. Overall, we would not stay here again. He was rude, condescending, inconsiderate, inhospitable, and should be fired. The hotel should strongly consider updating their fire safety instructions for employees, as this young man’s understanding of fire safety protocols and Hungarian law was lacking.

Having stayed in the Leonardo Boutique hotel in Rome recently I thought I'd give this one a try for a last minute 2 night weekend break and had a great stay. After an early flight we were pleasantly surprised to be able to check straight into our room at 9:30am despite not having paid for an early check in. The hotel is perfectly positioned in the city around a 15 minute walk to the river. We were very happy with our room which also had a large outdoor terrace. We didn't pay for breakfast as there were so many places nearby but it looked perfectly fine. The room didn't have tea and coffee making facilities but there was a self service hot drinks machine which you could help yourself to at anytime of day - a hot chocolate went down well after a cold day in the city! Knowing we had a late afternoon flight home I paid for the late checkout which was available for a small fee at the time of booking. We had a great stay and would recommend and would return should we visit Budapest again.
