A lovely old building, we stayed in the Priory bedroom which was spacious, clean and kept that way by good daily housekeeping. We did not eat here other than breakfast. Reading the menu you feel you are in for a treat, but not so. There was no topping up of the fairly limited cold buffet. The cooked breakfast was not the best with a wrong order received on one occasion and an almost raw poached egg in the eggs benedict. Ignoring the breakfast experience, the building was quaint and comfortable and with good parking on the street.

I was not asked how my stay was on checkout, so I am instead leaving a review here. This is a lovely, very old inn in the centre of Burford, but away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. It has gorgeous gardens and courtyards outside, plus plenty of rooms inside with fireplaces and comfortable furniture. The attention to detail in the hotel product is excellent, with luxury amenities, a choice of pillows and quality in-room coffee, tea and water. The service is haphazard, mostly friendly, sometimes surly. The food in the evening was excellent, but lunch and breakfast were below average - breakfast in particular was poor, with a surprisingly ungenerous cold buffet (if you arrive after 9.30 there’s barely anything left) and overcooked hot food. We stayed in room Rosie - unfortunately one of the noisiest hotel rooms I have ever experienced. I believe the primary task of any hotel is to provide a good night’s sleep and this is where the Lamb Inn failed for us. Whilst I appreciate it is a very old building, a room where you can hear the conversations (and toilet visits) of the room upstairs is just not suitable as a hotel room, and a hotel should not be charging money for a room where noise is a known issue (as it obviously was when we asked reception). Without this issue, I would have given 3 or 4 stars, but we left our two night stay deliriously tired and unrested, so unfortunately it’s a 1 star at best. All in all, if the cost of the hotel is not a problem for you, you are less likely to be disappointed, but this place is not perfect. And whatever you do, don’t book room Rosie when the room upstairs is occupied if you’re planning on getting any sleep.

We had a 2 night satay here for our anniversary. Stayed in Tolsey room. A good sized room with a super comfy super king sized bed. Loved the Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was very average. We had the full English both days. Apart from two very thin slices of streaky bacon the rest was just ok. Had there been a better selection of fresh fruit I would have preferred that option. However it was very poor. Meal in the restaurant was ok. Small portions. That is about all I have to say regarding food. However, the biggest disappointment was housekeeping. This was where they fell down. On returning from our day out the bed had been made. That is all. Tea and coffee mugs were left unwashed as were glasses. Neither bins had been emptied but the most disappointing was the towels we had left on the floor as both had been used the night before and that morning were hung back up on the towel rail and were still wet when we got in. Reception apologised and took £20 off the bill. Overall, a great spot in the village central to shops and eateries. The Lamb is a lovely Inn but they do need to up their game on things that matter to travellers. We felt it was overpriced at £410 for 2 nights.

Lovely hotel in a centre of Burford. Location was perfect, rooms very clean and service was good. The garden is a relaxing place to chill out.

We stayed just for one night, wish we could have stayed longer. Room was very spacious, bed comfy, bathroom clean too. Dining was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Lovely old building with lots of different rooms in the bar. Coffee/tea making available in the room. Even had an espresso machine.

The lamb inn is a lovely old hotel in a quiet area outside if Bourton on the Water. The suite we had was very nice with a great shower and comfortable large hex. The garden is pretty and my digs were warmly welcomed. The staff, all very young, were very nice and kind. The food however was hit and miss, it was ok but I think the chef is trying hard but a few improvements are needed. As our rooms were on the ground floor we had people sitting outside our window and so it was noisy. I still think it is a lovely place and the price was good for the room but it needs some TLC.

Hotel is in a lovely location. Plenty of character and the rear garden area was great to sit in for food drinks relaxation. Room was well equipped although it did get a bit warm but wouldn’t expect aircon in a building of this age. Had full English breakfast which was just about ok but expected far better from a hotel like this. Big issue with hotel being woefully understaffed, dirty plates left lying around for hours and delays with check in / service in bar. Staff working hard as they can but not enough of them. Good stay overall for 1 night but could have been much better. Would stay here again

Just spent 8 nights at the Lamb Inn as a base for exploring the Cotswolds. It was lovely: beautiful historic inn, our room with ensuite bathroom was more spacious than I expected and was very comfortable. Moulton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was included; there was lots of choice, and the food was excellent. Also had dinner there a few times, and same excellent quality food and service. Gorgeous gardens to have a drink or just relax. Very friendly staff. Steps to High Street where there are several pubs and interesting shops.

Very charming and great food. Arrived late just as we got into town. Did not have a reservation and the dining room was full. So we ate at a cozy table in the pub area which was more casual and suited us better as we were not dressed up. The food was great. Smaller more elegant portions without sides. Was glad I ordered a small garden salad with my fish. Great wine selection. Also really great gin and tonic options. Bar tender who served us was young and friendly.
