Trade Winds Country Cottages

Rachel is a fantastic host - she was totally committed to making our holiday as good as possible. Fresh eggs & produce were delivered free or better than local prices when available & every concern was managed. The rural location does make walking into town impractical but is more than compensated by the peaceful rustic setting, and the free car inclusion. The cottages (like all island accom) are not new but in excellent condition with new linen & fully equipped, including good wi-fi. The tariff turned out to be excellent value once we saw the standard of comparitive accom available on NI. It is a great base to explore & enjoy the island. We loved being there.

Lovely homely and comfortable cottages on acreage about 10 minutes drive out of Burnt Pine. Welcomed on arrival at airport by host Rachel whom we followed in our rental car back to our accommodation. Inside our cottage Phoebe Adams we found a welcome tray of fresh produce from onsite, plus 2 fresh eggs in the fridge. All the cottages have a open outside verandah with seating to enjoy the country views of free roaming chickens and cows crazing and meandering along the back road and paddocks emersing guests in authentic laidback rural Norfolk. We were offered access to produce around the property for our immediate needs; the fresh parsley and basil smelt divine and added amazing flavour to our meals. Our host Rachel was helpful and generous beyond our expectations.

Great rural location perfect for relaxing. Rachel was a wonderful engaging host. She really looked after us and has a wealth of knowledge and experience of Norfolk. The cottages are very comfortable, well equipped and decorated. We easily cooked some beautiful meals in the kitchen with local fresh produce. The king fish was a real delight caught from a local fishing charter. We spent a lot of time on the back verandah soaking up the ambiance. Rachel is to be commended on her recycling initiatives. We highly recommend Trade Winds Country Cottages.

After a delightful week-long visit to fascinating Norfolk Island I can highly recommend staying at Trade Winds Country Cottages. Our accomodation was spotless, very comfortable, spacious and well set out. A huge living room and fully appointed kitchen/dining space formed the centre of our cottage with an equally spacious king-size bedroom and ensuite situated on each side. A laundry and wide, shady verandah added to the comfort and functionality of our accomodation. The cottages are in a peaceful rural setting, surrounded by colourful garden beds including fruit, vegetables and herbs which guests are welcome to forage! We were 2 couples travelling together. I wish all our shared accomodation could be like Trade Winds. Importantly, Rachel and Ian were friendly and informative hosts. They met us at the airport so we could follow them to Trade Winds in our rental car. Without pressure, we learned about Norfolk and the many events and destinations to choose from. The location of Trade Winds, being a few minutes drive out of the island’s main shopping area, was ideal. We had farmland and forest serenity around us and having a hire car meant it was easy to tour the island at our leisure.

We are three independent travellers who like to have three bedrooms and at least two bathrooms. What a find was the Jason Fletcher house at at Trade Winds? Three bedrooms and three bathrooms! Huge living area, good kitchen and verandas on three sides of the house with seating on each veranda so we could all find our own spot. The house and the two bedroom units are set on a large area planted with fruit trees, palm trees, hibiscus, bird’s of paradise, poinsettias. You name it, it was there. Very tranquil. Our host, Robyn, was lovely. She checked in on us every couple of days despite being a very busy person and working full time.
