I called up well in advance and said that I wanted to stay in a non-carpeted 3 bedroom apar**ent because of my asthma and allergies. I was assured that would be fine as I was booking so far in advance, so I booked. Mantra called the day before we were due to arrive to confirm and I checked about the room. They said they were no longer able to accomodate that request and they could never have assure that I would get that room. I was not very happy and said I wouldn’t have booked had I known because I had been told that my request would definitely be accommodated. I requested to be changed but they apparently couldn’t do anything. We get there and as soon as I entered the room, that stunk like damp, my face went red and I was wheezing. Not to mention that the jackhammer was constantly going in the room opposite us and the kitchen was covered in grime-so it was just all around not good. I went to reception and had to really push for them to do anything. I had to demand a new room. The manager then came out and he was quite good and went out of his way to find us another room, but it was a 2 bedroom not 3 bedroom so we just had to make it work (they refunded the difference). The new room was fine but very tired and also not really all that clean. Additionally they spray really potent chemicals in the hallways to try and cover the musty smell that is present, which only makes it worse in my opinion. Overall the hotel is tired and in desperate need of an update. The pool is not heated so it was too cold to swim in. The wifi was so slow that it couldn’t be used. The location is good, however, and you can walk everywhere from the hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again and don’t recommend it.
