"Choosing The Benson Hotel for my Cairns trip was a brilliant decision! The location is absolutely superb – super close to the airport, just about a 15-minute taxi ride. It’s also only a 10-minute walk to the Lagoon Pool and the Marina, making it incredibly convenient for an evening stroll along the waterfront to the pool for a swim, or heading to the Marina to catch the sunset. The surrounding area is incredibly well-equipped too: right outside the hotel, you’ll find a huge variety of restaurants, from local seafood specialties to Asian cuisine, so you can try something new every day. There’s also a large supermarket nearby, perfect for grabbing fruits, snacks, or travel essentials. Shopping here gets full marks! The hotel rooms are spacious and bright, with all the amenities you could need, including air conditioning, making it feel just as comfortable as home. The front desk service was exceptionally thoughtful and attentive; they patiently recommended nearby attractions and restaurants, and any issues were resolved quickly. In short, this stay far exceeded my expectations. I will definitely choose The Benson Hotel again on my next visit to Cairns! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for convenient travel and comfortable accommodation – you won’t be disappointed!"

"The rooms were clean, but very small with low ceilings. Upon arrival, there was only one small carton of milk in the fridge, perhaps because the room was prepared earlier, for which I'm very grateful to the front desk staff. A big plus is the hotel pool, which has a sandy entrance on one side. However, the pool is shallow, so adults need to be careful not to scrape their feet on the rough bottom. Late check-out is available for an extra fee, which is very convenient if you're traveling with children and have a late flight. The airport is just 10 minutes away. Cairns Aquarium is nearby, and there's a large shopping center three blocks away. The promenade is two blocks away. Overall, it's good value for money, but don't expect perfect cleanliness or service."

"We loved our stay at this hotel. We enjoyed the swimming pool so much. Room is clean and spacious with a lovely view over the balcony. The vibe at both bars is excellent reminding me I am in a holiday. Our room is in front of an elevator, so it is a bit noisy on the morning when people go down to the restaurant. The breakfast didn't meet my expectations. Sometimes food didn't get refilled fast enough. There is room for improvement."

"The location was just the best. It was in the center of Esplanade, near the night market, so there was no trouble with sightseeing. It was the cheapest hostel with a private room that I looked at when booking. The room was small, but better than a dormitory. The water pressure in the shower was a bit weak, and sometimes there was no hot water, so it was just luck at the time. At first I had trouble opening the door, but there was a free public phone nearby, and they asked me to call from there, and they opened it for me. I was surprised that there were free public phones in Australia. Lol"

"I arrived at Mumm'as for 3 night... and spent over a month there. I astonished by the poor reviews on tripadvisor, when I saw the latest where in 2023. A new manager and his team have taken over the hostel, and the previous comments and pictures are outdates. Here are a few reasons why it is by far the best hostel I have stayed in Australia: 1/ It is an extremely clean place (they clean common areas 3 times a day) 2/ The rooms are not packed to maximise space, so you don't feel squeezed in it. And big plus: all the beds have curtains so you can enjoy some privacy. 3/ The atmosphere in the hostel is so nice, people are friendly and open. it is not a party hostel, so for those who are light sleepers (like me) you can enjoy peacefull night. 4/ Last and foremost, the Mumma's team is ever so friendly welcoming and makes you feel at home. Thank you Jackie , Brooke, Thomas, and the one and only Mumma's Mum Camille. You are the best!"
