Pros:
Great location – less than a 5-minute walk to the night market, which was super convenient. The reception area is gorgeous and makes a great first impression. Toiletries were excellent – good quality and not locked away like in some other hotels, and they smelled really nice. The rainforest shower was a standout – absolutely loved it. The rooftop bar is a vibe, with $9 margaritas and tacos, which was a great bonus.
Cons:
The room had a musty smell, and there was no window to let in fresh air, which made it feel quite closed in. The sink trap also had a strong unpleasant smell, and the cushions in the room didn’t smell fresh either. We booked for 4 people, but housekeeping only provided 2 towels daily, so we had to request more every day. The pool is quite small, and the chlorine levels seemed very high – it irritated and burned our eyes, and we ended up having to visit a pharmacy.

Anonymous UserThis hotel boasts a fantastic location, right downstairs from the night market. Their beef noodles are a real highlight, providing comfort for Chinese palates. The hotel's convenient location also means it's just a 10-minute walk to the cruise terminal and very close to the waterfront promenade, which is great for a stroll. The hotel's own bar is super chill, with live music in the evenings – perfect for a drink and a chat.

ShenxianshengThe hotel facilities are a bit dated, but it wins on brand and location, right next to the pier. Boarding boats, jet skis, and the Nautilus helicopter 🚁 are all within walking distance, and the night market is also very close. We checked in with three people, and the front desk said that a 15-year-old child would be charged extra for an additional bed. However, the front desk only collected the money and didn't inform housekeeping to add extra slippers and towels. The service awareness needs improvement. When the extra bed was added, the housekeeper moved the main bed in the room, revealing a dirty carpet underneath that hadn't been cleaned in a while. I have to criticize the hotel for this. Neither of these issues should be mistakes made by a Hilton brand.

Guest UserThe room was spacious and well-equipped with a microwave, cutlery, and a fridge. It's super close to both the ferry terminal and Cairns train station. There's a breakfast spot right opposite the hotel and a supermarket nearby, perfect for grabbing bread to heat up in the microwave. The front desk staff were really helpful, even assisting us with booking a taxi. The laundry facilities were fantastic, with large washing machines and dryers. Just a heads-up, the hotel doesn't provide slippers or toothbrushes, so remember to bring your own!

Stephanie qtrPerfectly located hotel - 300 m from the reef terminal (from where all day trips for Green island, the Great Barrier Reef and Fitzroy island are available!
The view from the room was stunning - overlooking the harbour . The rooms are wide and equipped with everything you may need . We really enjoyed our stay at Pullman !
Note : there is also a spa and a swimming pool / jaccuzzi - but we did not use them as we did not have the time .
Also - I am recommending to go to the Daintree rainforest- this is a fantastic day trip - to discover the oldest rainforest in the world ! Cairns is also a wonderful city - and there is also a wonderful supermarket 300m from the hotel.
Thanks for all and we would not hesitate to go back again to Pullman Cairns !

Guest UserThe service was helpful and efficient particularly Paul.
The bedroom 100 was an inner one with no window as such. But there was a window to a wall with 2 plants hanging down. It was a perfect place to sleep a bit like a cave in a way perfect just to sleep.
As far as I could see there was only one elevator coming and going also to the roof bar. So there was a wait here. Stairs would have been preferred.
The restaurant was fine too on the top floor with excellent views.
Location excellent with close proximity to the lagoon for swimming and of course the esplanade.

Afternoon, as I'm a regular customer, my stay at your accommodation is very customer caring which is why I feel more comfortable there. It has everything I required, especially when I'm on a FIFO that it can be very tiring for me to drive home to Yarrabah especially when you're sitting in a plane for an hour & a half. So be sure & ready for another booking for another overnight cap with the usual another Sunday overnight stay followed by another 2 night (Friday, Saturday) again, great work Team Balaclava Hotel for making my stay very comfortable, yours sincerely Cornelius.

The facilities are too poor. I live on the first floor and found that the blinds were not closed tightly at night, so all the light leaked in. The lights in the yard were so bright that I couldn't sleep all night.

The only regrettable hotel in Australia and New Zealand.
Let me talk about the advantages firstly: it is close to the beach, only a few minutes walk, you can walk, no beach, and the sea water is cloudy. Walk to the city center for about half an hour and there are buses.
Besides the disadvantages: the hotel is old, the Wi-Fi signal is often not available, the room is crammed, the kitchen operation table is next to the bed, and you have to be very careful when washing. There was also a striking warning-1,000 fines for triggering a smoke alarm. The swimming pool downstairs was completely unused, with leaves and unknown objects floating in it.
The most frustrating thing is that the ants on the wall are all in the tea cup after returning for a while. At night I crawled into my neck!
Will not go again.
