Luxury Hotels in Cairns

"First time staying at a Shangri La. It wasn't terrible. But it wasn't good. Or at least not as good as I expected. Starting with the positives. The location of the hotel is superb in Cairns. Great. Now the negatives. The finishings in the room were not up to the five star standard I'd expect in terms of just general quality. The cupboard door was also broken and hanging off the hinges. The TV was attached to a wall so that you cannot watch it from the bed or the built in seating/sofa. So if you want to watch you have to stand in the middle of the room. Badly designed and a poor experience. Luckily I was only staying a few nights. There was a fire alarm one of the days. Fine. But the housekeeping came at the exact same time as the fire alarm announcement. Wasn't sure if it was the door or the alarm. And resulted in the housekeeper walking in when I had no clothes on! For the money. It's not worth it. You can get better stays on Cairns. I stayed in a cheaper 4 star place which was much nicer and cheaper. Wouldn't stay again. Questioning on staying in the chain elsewhere."

"A decent five-star hotel. The room was spacious and even had a balcony, perfect for enjoying the refreshing sea breeze. It's located right in the city center, making it convenient to get anywhere – Cairns itself is quite small, so you can easily walk to most places. A taxi from the airport to the hotel was around 25 AUD."

"The hotel is located in a fantastic position. It has direct access to the beach promenade walk, very close to the night market (2 minutes walk), and very close to many other POI in the town. The service is good, the guys at the reception are great, they’re kind and very happy to help for everything. Very good gem in town"

"We stayed for four nights over the Easter holiday in a panorama sea view room in the new tower. First of all, the location is excellent. The pool area has a sandy beach, and compared to the Hilton next door, the water was much clearer and very pleasant. The view is absolutely beautiful. However, when the tide goes out, it turns into what feels like a “panoramic mudflat view,” so I would recommend carefully considering the timing of your stay. On the other hand, there were several issues with the room. There is no balcony, and the windows cannot be opened. There were mosquitoes in the room, and I was bitten multiple times, which caused itching and swelling. The insect repellent device in the hallway was empty, which made me question the quality of housekeeping management. When I spoke to a female staff member at reception, I was told that only body spray repellent was available, and no further assistance was offered, so I had to purchase and install my own insect repellent. In addition, there was a sewage-like smell coming from the bathroom. The mirror and sink were not properly cleaned and appeared dirty. The room and hallway also had a moldy smell, and due to the humidity, the bed linens felt damp. The duvet was thin and not very comfortable. As I am sensitive to smells, these issues made me feel nauseous and unwell. Later, my husband spoke to a male staff member at reception. Although the hotel was fully booked and we were unable to change rooms, he responded with sincerity, apologized thoroughly, and instructed housekeeping to carry out a deep cleaning. When we returned from going out, the bathroom had been properly cleaned and the sewage smell was gone. The moldy smell in the room did not completely disappear, but it had been masked with deodorizer, and we were able to sleep well that night. However, the same issues returned the following day. As it was the Easter holiday and other hotels were fully booked, we had no choice but to stay until the end of our reservation. Afterward, I checked reviews and found many similar complaints about the moldy smell, which made me regret not researching more thoroughly beforehand. I had assumed that as a five-star hotel, it would be fine. Overall, the reception staff were kind, friendly, and professional. In particular, the male staff member who assisted us was excellent. On the other hand, I felt that the quality of housekeeping needs improvement. In my opinion, these issues are largely due to a design flaw—specifically, the building was designed with aesthetics prioritized over functionality by the construction company and architect, resulting in rooms where windows cannot be opened despite the humid tropical climate. The older tower, which has balconies and windows that can be opened, may not have the same problems. I would not recommend this hotel to those who are sensitive to smells, but for those who are not, it can still be a wonderful place to stay given its location and facilities."

"The room itself was generally acceptable, and the balcony view was fantastic. However, the service left a lot to be desired. We found a thumb-sized blood stain on the bedsheet that hadn't been cleaned. We reported it to the front desk, and they assured us it would be handled and that a manager would contact us directly. But nothing ever came of it. We had to call housekeeping again to have someone come and change the sheets. There was never an explanation or an apology, which made it feel like this kind of thing is commonplace and not worth making a fuss over. But from a guest's perspective, this is not a minor issue; it was extremely unpleasant both psychologically and experientially. Housekeeping also consistently missed things; we had to call for everything from towels to toilet paper! This 'five-star' service was incredibly disappointing. To be fair, we are loyal Pullman customers globally, but it seems only the Pullman Cairns has these shortcomings."

"Always a great stay at Pullman Casino , great staff , very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fist class . We stay at the Pullman Cairns Casino most times when going to Cairns . They real look after us and nothing is too much trouble."

"We stayed from 1/31 to 2/5. It was a two-bedroom apartment, but there were two shower rooms, which was convenient. Condominium-type apartments are better for our family than regular hotels. Prices are high in Australia, so cooking at the apartment helps to reduce travel costs. Vision Apartment has a full kitchen, so we were able to cook without stress. It's also convenient and convenient to have a washing machine in the room. The reception is open for a short time, but if you contact us in advance, there are no problems with check-in or check-out. We recommend this apartment for those staying in Cairns for more than two nights."

"The location is very good with a view of the sea, and it was about 20 minutes walk from Cairns central station, so it was good to be able to walk home. The room was large and clean. When I went to the pool, the entrance and parking lot were specifications that would not open without the touch key that the guests had, so I was able to spend it with peace of mind in terms of security.
