I held back writing this review but it has continued to stick in my throat and I feel it’s only right to provide feedback. My wife booked a surprise visit here for my 40th birthday in May 2023. My wife booked under her name and provided her details - this info is very important as there is a complete GDPR breach involved. A few days prior to my birthday I received a call from the spa to tell me that the treatments that I had booked were not available and that I could have something else. I politely advised I have no idea what you are talking about “I’m sorry is that Mrs …..”, no, no it’s not, “can you tell Mrs this message…” Surprise ruined. Upon realising what happened the spa person then encouraging me not to tell my wife and encouraging me to keep it between us…it was just terrible. It appeared because I stayed at the hotel 12 years ago (on the eve of our wedding) that my details (which were unrelated to this booking) were used when the spa staff searched by my wife’s surname. Good luck if you have a more common surname than me, madness will follow! We got to the hotel and run down doesn’t cover it. Running a bulldozer through the hotel would present it better. Basil Fawlty would drop dead at the site of this place pretending to be a hotel. As you read on you will probably agree with my bulldozer comments, just level it and start again. We waited to check in, there was a wedding on and the bride waited to walk in to the function suite as staff feasted at the main desk on crisps and ignored customers waiting to check in. Nice. Our room was terrible. A sofa from the 80’s adorned the room, I think it might have been left in our room on the way to the dump then forgotten about. The blinds didn’t close, it actually was broken and just hung, limply. We couldn’t eat in the main restaurant because the wedding was on which was fine, but this wasn’t explained when my wife booked us in, the first we heard was upon arrival, we were offered to eat in the sports club with a vastly reduced menu which was reduced even further on the night due to a massive lack of available options. It takes some effort to be this bad. We visited the pool and spa facilities on our stay. The massages were fine, nothing memorable. The facilities were not fine but were memorable. The pool ceiling was missing but the workmen kindly left random strips of insulating wool hanging from what remained of the ceiling and were left ready to drop in to the pool at any minute. The showers were vile, workmen had literally ran filler over spiders, it came as no surprise to see they had also ran filler over mould and filled gaps with silicone and then even more silicone. It’s was nothing short of a disgrace. The steam room was filthy and stunk as bad as the showers. The pool was cold. Despite me standing back while my wife settled the bill the lady at reception loudly announced the price. Upon hearing the price I was aghast, against my better judgement I didn’t say anything as I didn’t
