This hotel was surprisingly good and out of my expectation....

Really enjoyed this hotel soo cleaning friendly . The beach is gorgeous an next to hotel pity the gate at the end wasn't open .... Food was delicious an loads to choose from an views were stunning. We had an apartment it was really good beds soon comfy an pillows to die for.... only thing was balcony it was big but sunless an view bad ... but apartment was amazing... thank you for a lovely stay ...

Amazing hotel, fantastic rooms , We were only B&B breakfast was amazing so much choice and so tasty. ideal location for walking and the shops, restaurants and bars. only downfall of the hotel are the bar staff they just ignore you when stood at the bar, sadly saw this happening to lots of people it came to the point were we bought a bottle of wine form the town and drank it on our balcony, that is the only criticism of this hotel otherwise perfect.

Excellent hotel, lots of unexpected extras with friendly service. The hotel is located beachfront and still in the centre of town and within walking distance of shops/cafes etc. Breakfast is simply the best I’ve ever experienced in a large hotel with most dietary needs catered for (at least 5 types of milk) and if open I would recommend the outside patio area where it’s quieter than the main restaurant. The hotel is very clean with a small army of pleasant room attendants working around the clock. We had originally only booked three nights but ended up staying eleven and only left because of a pre booked flight. A few tips we learnt during our stay - if you book directly with the hotel they guarantee the best rates available together with a few perks (couples getaway gives a free bottle of Prosecco) I know you’ve heard it before but I shopped around and found it to be true with a promise of further discount if found cheaper elsewhere - there is a coffee machine in the room but isn’t any good for making a traditional cup of tea - kettles are available at reception with a €25 refundable deposit. If you book 7 nights or more directly with hotel they can arrange free transport from the airport, we utilised this for return to Alicante which was efficient and didn’t mean an silly early departure which some tour companies insist on. If you are returning guest (subject to availability of course) you can keep your room until 6pm which is a massive bonus if you are on an evening flight. Ironing boards & irons will be delivered to your room without cost if requested at reception - a special mention to Pepi on reception for her assistance in all matters, always with a pleasant smile.

Excellent hotel, could not find a fault with anything. Staff were very professional. The whole hotel is spotless. Food excellent. Room and bathroom were very spacious. Excellent location. We were maybe lucky to get a room on the 8th floor with large balcony overlooking the beach, it may not be as great on lower floors with different views. This will be our go-to hotel for this area in future.

We booked a short 4 day stay at the hotel with jet 2 Holidays on Half Board. The reception area is lovely, bright and airy but for a 4 star plus grading the welcome was disappointing. We have been to 4 and 5 star hotels where the concierge would welcome you and give a hand with luggage but we were left to our own devices. Checking in at reception was quite a stressful experience after and early morning start and flight. It would have been nice to have been greeted warmly with the offer of a drink but instead they were more concerned with providing them with the hotel voucher than any pleasantries. We’ve never been asked for this before so I didn’t print it and asked if they didn’t have the verification of our booking from Jet 2. Apparently not, and the receptionist was insistent that I produce it or email verification. We were given a piece of paper with an email address and asked to email our holiday confirmation. Luckily, I had my phone and eventually was able to access email, all the while feeling quite harassed by the situation. The internet reception was very poor and it took time for the email to go through and I felt pressured when asked again “have you sent it?”. We had upgraded from a standard room to a room with a balcony. There is also a room with a balcony and sea view which we wish we’d gone for as we certainly weren’t expecting the horrendous view we had. The room itself was clean, spacious and comfortable but the view from the balcony was looking out on to residential buildings with washing hanging out on the balconies. We didn’t expect a sea view but did expect an upgrade room with a balcony would provide some other pleasant scene – garden, pool or even a street view where we could sit out and enjoy watching people going by. As it was, we couldn’t/wouldn’t use the balcony as it wasn’t enjoyable to sit out in and when we were in the room, we kept the curtains drawn so we weren’t looking out on to the depressing scene. We asked if we could upgrade to a sea view balcony but unfortunately none were available. Food is ok but just average. The pool itself is nice and the view of the beach is lovely but the sun loungers around the pool were crammed together like sardines in a tin with two touching side by side and very little space between the next and at times the music was too loud. If booking the hotel, I would strongly advise you upgrade to a sea view room. Had we done so we might have given our stay a 4 instead of 3

Please ignore the bad review just gone on! The hotel is lovely it's set in a town so all rooms will not be sea view obviously!! Bedrooms are lovely and very modern much better than most 4star hotels!! Pool area is small but people like to put pictures on to make it look worse . Stunning views with an infinity pool and some lovely day beds and a great pool bar! We are back again in May!!

We arrived before our room was ready. But we were checked in, kindly given a drinks voucher. They took our telephone number so they could call us when the room was ready. We asked them why they called it an unusual hotel - they replied you will find out for yourself. The room was spotlessly clean and was cleaned every morning to the same standard. The bed is huge and the comfiest ever and the best pillows. The staff and very friendly and very attentive. This is where they are unusual. The service is top notch. They see what you need before you need it. They smile, chat and nothing is a problem. You are shown to your table by a waiter/ waitress you never have to wait. They try to cater for every need. They said breakfast is good - yep it certainly is. One of the best breakfasts we have ever had. Dinner was ok lots to choose from. Bottles of wine are not too expensive and a good selection. We had a different bottle every night. This was opened professionally and we never had a bad one. The pool area was not busy, bear in mind we went in April. Very clean, the guy giving out the towels and pillows was very pleasant. Sun cream is available at the pool. The location is fantastic. Just step out of the hotel and you are on the promenade or you can step down to a perfectly clean beach. The smell when you enter the hotel is amazing. We have tried to book again but is fully booked so we will try again for next year. We didn’t realise Calpe was so beautiful. The hotel is perfect and we can’t wait to visit again. Lots of bars and restaurants along the promenade but venture into the old town and the side streets lots of different bars and restaurants which serve very good food. We felt safe walking around. Visit the market on a Saturday . Floor 9 is the best they try to accommodate you. The cost of a sea view would be worth the sunrise. Please pass our thanks to your staff - they make the hotel.
