The Tripadvisor photo doesn’t resemble the hotel. The A14 dual carriageway which opened in 2020, runs alongside the hotel. Houses are currently being built within 20 metres of the hotel. With building work ongoing, ‘noisy‘ rather than peaceful’ might be more appropriate. Having expected to use the swimming pool the nearest we got was to have site of the building works from our bedroom window. Room 111 certainly didn’t come close to being 4*. With cheap plastic glasses, mould on the shower mat and peeling paint work it was in need of an upgrade. The highlight would be the staff making the best of a made job. If it hadn’t been for the management agreeing to include an evening meal in our rate, we’d either not have stayed or it’d have been an expensive ok stay.

The road having been upgraded took a while to find. Busy location. The food was reasonable. Went to the restaurant area first to be told to wait. Went to car and came back to this time be told bar snacks were upstairs. Not clear how to get to the bar area. Asked to be pointed out, not so politely.

We were at tge hotel the week before and enjoyed the atmosphere and the welcoming staff, wgen we arrived the front desk staff rememberd us and we were met with a smile and friendly conversation. Eua or Ewe was on reception and she was helpful the week before and this time as well. The foid eas excellent. The only thing i would suggest is real popadoms with the curry and a biscuit in the room yo go with the cuppa. We will he staying again soon and maybe nrxt time use the spa.

Staff very helpful, Chris, Stefam and Ewa all went above and beyond to make our stay special! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend. Food was great and nice we could bring our little doggie! Breakfast in the lobby was also very tasty!

The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Parts of the room were looking a bit tired, and the radiator didn’t work very well, so on a night when it was -10 degs, the room was cold.

We've just had our group summer golf trip cancelled due to the hotel accepting a Government Contract that is due to last until at least the end of this year. Best Western have also accepted a Government Contract at Yew Lodge near to us, cancelling weddings and other bookings. I hope this works out for them in the long term but I will not be using Bsst Western ever again due to unreliability.
