Went to Cambridge to celebrate Goddaughter's birthday - 29 Feb - so an infrequent event - so clearly 29 Feb 2024 a special day. Goddaughter booked and paid for 2 rooms. My room was fine - her room stank of a chemical so strong it was not possible to remain in the room. She complained to reception who advised that the smell could be dissipated by them using a machine to dispense 'air freshener' - yet more chemicals - but they could not offer another room at the property nor could they offer 2 rooms at an alternative location in Cambridge. We gave both rooms up as a bad job and stayed at the Travelodge on Newmarket Road Cambridge. A dreadful hotel never to be revisited and my Goddaughter remains out of pocket as Premier Inn have only refunded one of the rooms. Very poor experience and very poor customer service from both the person on reception at the time and the Company.

Cannot fault the room or reception staff. Plenty of free car parking and easy to find. I would not recommend eating at the attached Beefeater, we found the food of poor quality and portion size small. We took advantage of the evening meal deal but it was not worth it and the breakfast is not unlimited as it claims. It is table service and have to state how many sausages, slices of back etc you want and that is it. I am use to buffet style where you can help your self rather than having to make a one of decision.

We were attending a funeral close by so booked two rooms only a week in advance... I was shocked at the price of £290 for the rooms plus 2 continental and 1 cooked breakfast.... This was the most expensive Premier Inn we have ever stayed in... Yet the room was very basic, no tray for the tea and coffee, so nowhere to put dirty teaspoons after stirring the tea/coffee... No tissues just loo paper.... No toilet brush.... Slow running drain in wash basin.... Toilet very slow and needed flushing more than once to look clean.... I mentioned to reception and was told all rooms are like that as the plumbing is old! ..... Come on Premier Inn why are you charging top whack for a very basic room?? Beefeater was good and staff very accommodating for evening meal when 7 of us turned up without a booking!

Upon entering our room we noticed an unacceptable strong smell of chemical which was like mothballs. It was so strong it made us leave the room straightaway! Reception informed us that we could not change rooms as the hotel was fully booked but did offer a solution of pumping an extremely strong air freshener in the room. We would not be able to access the room for an hour afterwards. The combination of these 2 chemical smells was not acceptable, especially with reactive airways. We googled the mothball smell and decided in the interests of health we would not be staying in the room. We asked the receptionist if we could transfer to another Premier Inn nearby as there were no other rooms in this hotel but she informed us that this could not be done. Also, a refund could not be offered. We had no option but to purchase accommodation elsewhere on a last minute booking rate. Totally unacceptable as none of this was our fault at all, the smell was potentially toxic.

Arrived and was directed to our room by a polite young lady. First impression was that I had booked an accessible Family room due to mobility issues but was allocated a 1st floor twin room! Checking on line this is a cheaper room so will be taking that up with the booking team on Monday. Very cold in the room and when we enquired, was told that there issues with a leak so heating was being repaired. It came on at around 7pm. The attached Beefeater restaurant was also affected by the rain related leak/flood so areas of the restaurant were out of service. Initially was told that as we had no booking there was no table available although that was quickly changed when I said we had not been asked to book a table when making the hotel reservation, and we were taken to a table. The first 2 items I tried ordering were unavailable so as a vegetarian was left with the option of a salad which was not ideal. However; the table server was a delight but was clearly feeling the stress of having dealt with disgruntled customers for several hours. Will I stay here again? Probably not. Would I recommend the restaurant. Absolutely not. This the 3rd time we have used it recently and found a restricted menu. The reason for continued customer is convenience of location close to Family and the M11. This will have to be reconsidered with such a poor standard of service today!

Brilliant stay from start to finish. Room was large and clean, you can always guarantee a good nights sleep with premier inn! Breakfast was great, they advise to prebook but I was the only one there. Julian was the member of staff on duty and he was brilliant and couldn’t do any more to help. I have an allergy and he ensured I had everything I needed. Parking was not a problem with lots of spaces available. There’s a nearby Sainsbury’s if needed. When I’m back in the area I’ll definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel, bar and restaurant. Quiet rooms, comfy beds, blackout blinds. Fantastic staff in both reception and bar next door. Food is good and very reasonable, breakfast is a real bargain, and the unlimited tea and coffee, amazing. Special mention to the manager of the bar and his staff who can't do enough to help. They are often busy and yet always find the time to be attentive and personable. Great place, will stay here every time I'm in Cambridge.

As we had a late appointment at Addenbrooks Hospital, we decided it would be a nice idea to combine it with a night out, rather than travel home late evening, due to the distance involved. The hotel was good location for this, and as usual Premier Inn did not disappoint! comfortable room, and integral restaurant and bar, where we had a delightful meal.

Lots of hotels in Cambridge but premier inn has a good night sleep and it’s team are a real asset. Will definitely be back again. Thank you. Loved the comfy beds. The rooms were quite cosy too. The restaurant was just on hand and we enjoyed the breakfast.
