We booked through ********** for a 5-night stay and upon arriving at the property they told us there are no rooms. We didn't even get to enter, they didn't let us, but seeing the opinions of those who have stayed, I'm very glad we didn't. There were several groups of customers in the same situation as us, all protesting, and some had even called the police.

Terrible! We left almost immediately after checking in as the place did not feel at all safe, was dirty and didn't have running water (and couldn't advise when it would be available again. The bedding was dirty and stained, there was hair on the floor, the railing outside the room definitely didn't look safety compliant and there were no burglar bars on the windows. Someone did come to clean after we had checked in, but this is obviously unacceptable. I knew I'd not be able to sleep there, so checked out and called Agoda who said they would try get a refund. The institution refused. On top of this all we had to try find accomodation late afternoon on a Friday for that night! Also the views depicted in the room we booked weren't what we were given. Stay away!

Extremely disappointing - photos are all old and do not reflect the current state. First room was so small - it seemed I was in a train coupe - fortunately they moved me to a bigger room, but it was very dirty. During my stay the door lock was changed ansd I did not get notice or a key and it could be opened by anyone. The fridge and curtains were also removed during the stay. Noisy till early hours of morning. All stars should be removed.

When I arrived to check in after booking and having the reservation confirmed on *********** they just said sorry no rooms available and provided me with no help or assistance at all. This clearly happens all the time as the reception staff did not look the slightest bit surprised or apologetic. They clearly overbook all the time to try to avoid empty rooms as I could have still booked a room on *********** for that night even through they were full. Anyway the rooms are small smelly and dirty so this is certainly a place to avoid at all costs.

Unbelievable what happened there. We had booked the hotel and arrived on time. A very friendly lady informed us that we would have to switch to the Sleepy Lion Hotel, which belongs to the company, because the hotel was obviously overbooked. So we went to this hotel, which is incredibly dirty in a rather bad environment. The entrance there resembles a prison entrance with thick bars. The rooms there are under all criticism. The prices in both houses are really fantastic prices that you only pay if you really can't get anything else. Just cheeky and bold. So we paid the inflated rate at the Sleepy Lion by card (which was even higher than the rate at the Rhino Hotel). An employee was also happy to come into the room unannounced under some pretext and make an excuse for coming in. As written. A company, an expensive rubbish dump, which in the end delivered the hammer: The Happy Rhino Hotel then booked the full costs for the rooms that we could not move into because of the overbooking, on the grounds that we had not come and had not checked in. Corresponding proceedings against this debit are in progress. Perhaps it would be advisable (of course in general and verbally ;-) ) not to leave any valuables lying around openly, even for a short time, in the presence or without the presence of strangers. Everything can always be gone quickly.

Absolutely disgusting, dodgy as hell, noisy, broken doors, filthy entrance, sleepy security guard. Paid for 7 nights left after the 1st nigt as its scary as hell! No response after calling them numerous times to get money back. Muggings in broad daylight outside of hotel. No sign of management. List goes on, dont book there!

What an absolutely disgusting place to stay! R2,500 for 4 nights for a room that was in the basement. The check in process was not painful, but the moment we stepped into the room- that was in a basement without WIFI despite them advertising it- the urine smell burned your nose! We did not have a single wink of sleep, as people had absolutely no regard for others staying here. Drunk, disorderly and absolutely disgraceful people are checked in- not to mention that they tried to break into our room. FYI- their rooms aren’t what they advertised on *********** and they refused to refund even though we RAN OUT OF THERE! DO NOT EVER STAY HERE! Be warned!

Dodgy as hell!! Unfriendly staff, questionable guests, dirty parking area you pay for. Didn't feel safe at all! Room that gave me an option for a double or single ended up being a single and very small. No floor mats or hand towls... USB ports don't work and neither did the kettle. Arrived late back from a dinner and no one would open the parking for me, manager stank of alcohol and was rather aggressive raising his voice at me saying they are busy. Female alone I felt extremely intimidated and unsafe. They asked for my ID at check in and never gave it back! Only found out once I was 500km away and pulled over in a road block! Lift Only goes to 5th floor and stairs to 6 and 7th are dirty and dodgy! Just don't book here... you will regret it.

Horrible ! Definitely don't go there! We did a road trip in South Africa where everything went well in lodges and different BnB until this seedy hotel. The photos do not reflect reality. - Tiny rooms with no space. Sheets with holes and stains. - uncomfortable and worn mattress - no towel available - you can only flood the bathroom with the shower - the sink almost collapses. -super mega noisy, not soundproof at all, a disaster (even with earplug) and that all night long with peaks at 4am. -window with a view of a wall We left during the day and what was our surprise when we discovered that we no longer had our belongings. Everything was stuffed in our bags found in a room next to the reception, mixing clean and dirty linen, and my friend's belongings and mine with broken objects!! DO NOT GO !
