Budock Vean Hotel

Have been to hotel may times with great food, room and very helpfull staff, on this occassion no different. Met many of the older members of staff who have been at the hotel for a long time and their experience has been passed onto new staff. Great place to stay and unwind with many sports included but the golf is the best.

Took up special October offer and so pleased we did as this was our favourite hotel years ago where we stayed annually for 14 years. Upgraded on arrival, overlooked golf course, separate bathroom and toilet, super comfy bed, plenty of storage. Attentive staff, dinner and breakfast best for ages, at last hot food after disappointing stays with other local hotels. Dining room completely changed but lacking the charm it used to have. Miss the desert and cheese trolleys. Excellent service, use of pool and hot tub but wish table tennis hadn't been moved outside. Lovely stroll down to creek where new cafe facilities installed, good idea. Would certainly return.

Stayed for 3 nights and had booked 2 standard rooms - both rooms were upgraded on check in which was a lovely surprise and were immaculately maintained throughout our visit. We loved the breakfasts - first rate quality ingrediants and fried bread too which you are lucky to get these days elsewhere ! Dinner quality was excellent on the whole, however seemed a bit quieter than our last visit 6 years ago and there was no atmosphere in the dining room - maybe some background music would be appropriate. Also no wine waiter so had to serve ourselves - which I appreciate was no hardhship but would have expected one of the staff to be able to carry out this activity. Overall a lovely stay, lovely staff and will return - hope that if the hotel is sold it is maintained as is as there are fewer hotels left which present this old world charm. Only improvement I'd suggest is the bedroom doors are changed - not sure why they were not when many of the rooms were upgraded - they look cheap and obviously old - the old fashioned key is of a bygone era that even I can live without!

We have just return from a four night stay. The weather was at its best, lovely late summer sun and really fresh air. The meals were excellent and the variety impressive, particularly dinner. Service was at its usual best. We played golf on two days which was great fun. Have already booked again for next year.

Dirty disgusting unhygienic Spa!!! No sun loungers for booked spa days! Had to wait to get one! Not enough cushions for sun loungers and the ones we could find available were dirty, moldy and damaged! Grate around hot tub broken and dangerous! I made staff aware on a previous visit, no repairs had taken place, yet hot tub still in Use! Dirty, moldy, smelly carpet surrounding the pool!!!!!! Dirty, rusty doors and windows! Dirty sauna ! Pool water green tinged! Pool stairs unsteady! Impossible to relax in this spa !! Manager uninterested!! Spa receptionist‘Tasha’ helpful and professional , only staff member that was! My advice avoid this spa at all costs!!!

We started the days with a relaxing swim in the warm indoor pool, then sat outside in the hot tub, chatting about what to do for the day. Played some golf, took a walk to jetty and onwards to the ferryboat inn, took a boat tour around the river and creeks, visited kynance cove, pendennis and trebah gardens. All only short drives away! Very friendly place and had a couple of very nice dinners in the restaurant.

First class stay,bedroom and service excellent. Dinner was tasty and filling. Good walk down to the shore . Massive bed with large pillows seperate we to bathroom which is always good when two are staying together. Recommended to friends and family

I really do hope they pay their staff well as they were the only reason I wasn’t furious at spending over £300 to stay at a tired, unclean and outdated hotel. The staff here were second to none, and we could not have asked for more from them. They’re an absolute credit to the hotel and I hope they get most of the fee, seeing as the money clearly isn’t being spent on updating the hotel facilities. The rooms have not been updated in many many many years, there’s one very small television which is connected via Ariel so don’t expect to be able to watch anything other than a few grainy channels. The decor, fittings and appliances are dusty and from the 80s. The bathroom in the room was grotty so I could barely have a shower without touching old limescaly fittings. But worst of all, the swimming pool area is vile. It’s carpeted, severely unhygienic and the pool doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned since the 90s with black dirt all through the grouted tiles. The carpet around the pool is mouldy and wet leading to the hot tub (which has broken pieces of plastic all around it so I only imagine a very cheap type model as they said in other reviews it’s been updated?). If I was staying in one of the updated rooms (as there seem to be some based on the hotels other reviews, I would be furious to pay and find that “spa” awaiting me”. The gardeners however obviously do a very good job and the reception staff and waiting staff were very very attentive. They can’t help the poor facilities. There was not a clean plate in sight for breakfast, the plastic cabinets and containers are obviously not regularly cleaned so everything just needs a good scrub. The food however was ok. Would not recommend at all.

After looking for a hotel around Falmouth Budock Vean looked like it would be a good stay. It has great facilities; tennis, table tennis, snooker room, swimming pool, golf course and a boat trip. The food was absolutely sensational and the staff were friendly. The room was clean and lovely to stay in.
