Quiet hotel, perfect to spend a few days and enjoy the city. Good location, it is not very central but a 20-minute walk away you have the main places of interest. Basic but sufficient breakfast. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms. Good value for money.

Good hotel located in the huge Praca Da Republica in the semi-central area, this will allow you to enjoy greater tranquility but at the same time good convenience, the metro from the airport will take you directly to Trindade which is located a few minutes walk from the hotel while you can reach the center in 10 minutes and the characteristic area of Ribeira and along Duoro in 15/20 minutes of quiet walking. Having said that, the hotel was renovated a few years ago, however you will enjoy common areas rich in history and art, the rooms are quite large and equipped with air conditioning and television, comfortable mattresses including toppers (has Barbieri been there?) the bathroom is large as is the shower and listen, unlike most foreign hotels (and especially those in the homeland of its inventor) it is equipped with a Bidet!!!!!!! The rooms on the higher floors are quiet so you will rest well, the staff is polite and friendly, good daily cleaning, excellent value for money. Convenient taxi stop within walking distance. Hidden away in plain sight on a beautiful square, the hotel entrance, reception area, breakfast area and staircase are full of beautiful original features. These disappear higher up unfortunately, as the building has obviously been through renovation and extension. My room was a decent size with a lovely terrace complete with sun loungers and a view over gardens; very pretty. Smart, decent sized bathroom with nice toiletries and a lovely walk in shower. On the down side, there were no drawers in the room at all, only four clothes hangers on an open hanging frame and no light near the mirror. There is room for a set of drawers and would have welcomed some. Breakfast was a good spread every day: lovely bread and pastries, toaster, fruit, cold meats etc but after a couple of mornings it was all a bit same-y. Great coffee machine! Reception is staffed 24/7 and every member of staff was really pleasant and helpful. A good 20minute downhill walk down to the historic centre was pleasant - a bit less so on the way back up! The hop on hop off bus stop is just across the square so that was very convenient too. All in all a lovely place to stay and I would recommend
