Without a doubt the worst experience we have had in 40 years of travel. Most of the staff was just plain rude. From the desk clerk who was going to help with the Wi-Fi and said "it is so slow to warm up it must be from the south" to the girl in the restaurant as we were looking at the morning menu for the next day "so, you don't want anything right now". Our favorite may be when, in the middle of the night, there was a big boom and all the lights in the room came on, went out and woke us up. Nothing in the room worked after that including the phone. We go to the lobby and were told that everything just quit working in the hotel. The desk clerk never said anything to anybody. She just sat there. One guest said that he could not get back into his room. Do not know how he made out. After about an hour a bucket truck came and spent hours working on a transformer right outside our room. This was the norm for this hotel. It happened every day for our three night stay. We mentioned all this to someone who looked like management as we were leaving and got nothing. The only exception was the valet named Brandon. He was a good guy who spoke to us each time we walked out and offered directions to downtown.

Very happy with this hotel. The location is perfect for visiting downtown Charleston. We plan to walk to the Fort Sumter ferry and the Old Carriage Company. Rooms are spacious and clean. Starbucks in the lobby for a quick breakfast. We definitely would stay again.

Staff was friendly, helpful and professional. In particular, Parking valet attendant was fantastic-great experience even before we walked inside hotel entrance. He (wish I got his name), was working really hard upon checkout, too, was very impressed with his work ethic and pleasant interaction with guests. Great experience overall.

It's a Marriott Courtyard, not a 4 or 5 star hotel. That said, it is a bit pricey for a 3 star property. It could really use new carpet etc. The Valet Service is the best thing about this place.
