Courtyard is a great hotel! It’s conveniently located and has a beautiful view of the city. I enjoyed

It's a Marriott Courtyard, not a 4 or 5 star hotel. That said, it is a bit pricey for a 3 star property. It could really use new carpet etc. The Valet Service is the best thing about this place.

The Valet service from Brandon B and Gabriel was outstanding! They were timely, respectful and kind. They also gave us great recommendations and helped us with our bags. They noticed when I had trouble getting out of the car and helped me out too. Great experience!

Y’all! There are two valet drivers who need a shout-out! Tre’ Davis and Brandon Carroway are so professional, have an incredible knowledge of Charleston, and are so personable! I had a situation that could have gone pear-shaped quickly, but these two saved the day, and gave me a chuckle to boot! One of the best aspects of my stay!

This rating does NOT include the very nice people running the bar and coffee area nor the ambiance of the seating area around the lobby. They do a fine job. My rating is reflective of the room itself. The bed was comfortable and linens were clean, however the rest of the room had a real “ick factor” that i don’t think I’ve ever experienced at a Marriott. Not sure who is overseeing the housekeeping staff but it does not look as if the tables and furnishings have been well cleaned in a long, long time. At least not in room 329. Thick layers of dust and old smudges of something greasy on the table pedestals and dresser handles. The armoire was pretty battered up, the bath room lighting way to dim to apply makeup, but not so dim as to hide some of the black gunk in the floor grout and tub caulking which I suspect to be mold. Although we had fresh towels daily, one day we were surprised with a couple of unappealing long black hairs in the folds. Sorry, no way they were ours. TWICE we requested of front desk for our body wash to be filled and finally gave up and used the shampoo to wash instead. The complimentary lotion is good for one time use and we only got one over five day stay. What has happened to the attention to detail? Our housekeeper rapped on our door in The morning and we learned quickly spoke No English. Just kept saying “no want your room clean?” I said yes we do, and we would be leaving shortly. She kept shaking her head saying “no English” opened a translation app on her phone and pointed vigorously for me to speak into the app. Really Marriott? Our room (Only) cost for a five night stay? Just under $3,000. And we’re considered Gold level. Still not quite sure how this happened as we thought we had used a combination of points and a rate represented in the mid $300 range. Our bad, but as long time Marriott customers we’ll be paying MUCH closer attention to our confirmation email. NEVER would I have paid this price for this level of a hotel. Also, the pool area was closed for renovations which wasn’t a huge deal although it would have been nice to relax there. What felt like a parting shot of disappointment was our last day. We were “privileged” as gold members to receive automatic late check out at 2pm and confirmed twice we would be checking out late. When we returned to gather our things at 1230, our key had already been deactivated requiring a trip to the front desk and a rush to meet our Uber driver. Lots of options for your stay in Charleston, choose wisely.

Pulled up to the hotel and noted that valet parking was the only option for parking at the hotel ($39). A valet attendant came out and showed me where to temporarily park. I unloaded my stuff and he asked if I needed a cart which I replied I did not. After a short wait he came and took my keys and told asked me my name, got my phone number and told me I would get my receipt via text shortly after I checked in. I went to the front desk in the lobby and was checked in by Nick. He obtained my name and took my driver’s license to confirm my identity. He also took my credit card. Nick was nice but didn’t make a connection, he failed to recognize my status on Marriott Bonvoy, he failed to use my name and didn’t do anything to build a rapport with me. He did tell me about the hours for breakfast and that the pool was closed. He also explained there was some renovation work going on outside but that it shouldn’t bother me. I asked for a room refresh by housekeeping and he told me that they do that. I asked that it include making of the bed, amenity replacement and clean towels, he told he would make note of that. I asked about the $10 a day welcome gift and he gave me a couple of coupons to use. The room 402 was nice size corner room. If this is an upgraded room to the standard I am surprised they didn’t say anything about it. Very spacious, nice stand alone shower – nice size bathroom. I like the new make up black face cloth. Smart – doesn’t show the make up stains. Wifi worked great without a password. The bed was comfy and the room spotless clean. The room attendants I met on the 4th floor during my stay were all very friendly. I used my coupons in the morning at the Starbucks counter in the restaurant and got a large latte to start the day. Dwayne the barista was very friendly and hospitable taking my order and preparing my specialty coffee. The fitness/exercise room was very nice, good size. I was a bit disappointed that the pool was closed during my stay. Check out was on Sunday morning the valet guys retrieved my car quickly and it was waiting for me after using the text message response for car retrieval. The valet attendant did well to confirm my name before giving me the keys. The hotel is in a great location – close to King Street shopping and Meeting Street with all the museums. Lots of bars and different restaurants within easy walking distance. An overall very nice stay and I can recommend this hotel if your travels take you to Charleston, SC.

Nice location. Very friendly staff. VERY disappointed that the pool and the back outdoor areas were closed, and we were not notified in advance. Until rectified, I recommend staying at a different property if this is important to you. So many choices in the area!

Gabe and Tres were our valets and they were FANTASTIC! Helped us with navigation and places to eat and visit !Highly recommend this place as the valet service alone was fantastic! We are first time travelers to South Carolina and the kindness and hospitality is wonderful

Jon (front desk) and Tre D (valet) are great at their job! They made me and my daughter feel instantly at home from the minute we walked into the hotel. Jon has great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. He also made check-in super easy. Tre is super helpful and made sure we had whatever we needed. Jon and Tre’s customer service skills are an asset to the Courtyard.
