This marks the third time I've stayed at this Hampton Inn, and there's a good reason I continue to return. Simply put, this location is one of the finest hotels in the entire Hampton chain. It's also one of the best hotels in the Charlotte area. My room was 619, ironically the same room as my previous stay last summer. In fact, all three visits to this hotel have been in rooms on the 6th floor. Absolutely no complaints with the room. The high ceilings and light color scheme lend the room a bright, airy feel. Furnishings are beautiful and elegant. The attention to detail is impressive. The work desk is unusually large, and there's a handy laptop table next to the lounge chair. There's even a TV built into the bathroom mirror - just in case you want to take a long soak in the tub without missing a show. The bed was very comfortable, everything was clean, functional, and in good condition. One of the two elevators as well as the 6th floor ice machine were out of order during my visit. Neither had a major impact on my stay, but it was a bit surprising to see considering the excellent overall condition of the hotel overall. This hotel tries some creative offerings for breakfast. While I appreciate the effort, this sometimes means they don't have plain options at the breakfast bar for those of us with allergies. I was, however, able to get a plain bagel as part of their grab and go breakfast bags. At both check in and check out, Whitney provided exceptional service, matching the level of excellence displayed by the entire hotel. The Hampton Inn Charlotte-Southpark is solidly in my list of best hotels I've stayed at. It's going to be more expensive than other Hampton Inns in Charlotte, but if you're looking for a hotel that's operated at the highest standards, as well as uniquely elegant decor that would look right at home in the finest luxury hotels, it's well worth the extra cost.
