The suite we ha was good. The air conditioning was like an
Asthmatic blowing on you. If you want to have a shower then you have to put ut on at least 15 minutes before you get in it. To get luke warm water. Our room was right above the wedding venue so got not much sleep. The room cost £200 a night and no breakfast included. Not worth the money.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. When I tried to check in the staff didn’t have my name but only my friends even though I was the one that paid for the room? Bar food was nice enough but quite expensive over £18 for 1 panini, 1 chips, soft drink & a tea! Room was clean and tidy and very quiet but unfortunately didn’t have the best sleep as bed was really uncomfortable, springs coming through the mattress and really lumpy hard pillows also which was a shame! Stayed there as music event was on at the Colchester Park and looked like it was the nearest hotel to it but walking there was a bit tricky as had to go across a main road and through a dodgy alleyway behind an industrial building which wasn’t signposted after the event had to walk the long way around through the town to get back to the hotel.

if you stay at this hotel make sure you stay on the top floor as I was kept awake by the floorboards creaking every time someone in the room above walked on them.
I could also hear someone snoring next door through the very thin walls.
The hotel needs a make over as it is so old & tired looking & bathroom wasn't very clean.
£91 for a single room to be kept awake all night is not what I expected.
The location is good & service given by Chris at breakfast was excellent

Warmest welcome I’ve had for a while from Chris who was on duty. Lovely atmosphere, clean tidy and full of character. Great breakfast and good coffee :) If you need to work remotely, they’re very accommodating too. Lots of space and privacy. 5 star

Are your items safe when not in your room? Will they be taken and binned by staff and will the general manager, John Mills, email insulting messages and blame you for any missing items?? Who knows… Will a resident with a tv blaring in the early hours be addressed by hotel staff or will they tell you there is nothing they can do? I advise you all avoid this one star establishment at all costs and considering better options available, you should think again. Breakfast is okay. That is the only positive comment. AVOID

Comfortable 2 night stay. Had a balcony room which was lovely. Breakfast was really good. Great choice of hot and cold food. Although Chris' service is what gave it an 11/10. Nothing was too much to ask for, drinks were refilled and delivered with a smile! Keep doing what your doing Chris. :)

A great hotel in a central location in Chelmsford. Friendly staff and great food. The room was nice and well kept with a comfortable bed. My only criticism would be there was no handles in the shower, and my wife struggles with stability issues. But apart from that the stay was spot on.

Having wrongly booked a 2 apartment via ******* instead of a single room, Andrea (Reception Manager) and Andra helped to sort out my mistake with ******* with little or no fuss... and with a full refund. They both were so helpful and made my two (2) night stay very enjoyable Thank you. Also, I would like to give a "shout-out" to Chris who served me my full English breakfast and who was so friendly and helpful - the hotel should be proud of all these members of staff.

Wow what a fantastic day.We were here to celebrate my mother’s 90th Birthday as a family in the ‘Suffolk Room’ We met up for a coffee in the bar first and a lady called Chris came and introduced herself to us and said she would be looking after us.She is amazing a totally lovely friendly lady who is just fabulous at her job.She was so kind and caring to us all but especially my mother. Thank you so much Chris for making our day so special and memorable. You are a true asset to The County Hotel. You said you will be celebrating your birthday soon I hope your day will be as special as you made ours.I have a lovely video of you taking a cake to mum I would love to share it on here so everyone can see how lovely you are but obviously I can’t
