Kalyan Grand - a business hotel

I was in Kalyan Grand two times, in total spent 18 nights. With previous experience in India, this hotel was very nice surprise in ***y ways. From first contact, everything was very clear and easy to arrange. Picking up from airport till check-in and check-out. Rooms are with enough space, light and clean with all necessary accessories. Restaurant is very clean with mainly Indian food, but also you can find something in according with European taste. If you are so selective in food you can ask from stuff to prepare meal without Indian spices (I personaly prefer their spices, but my colleagues don't). For breakfast you can find toast, butter, eggs prepared on various ways, yogurt, milk etc., but in any case I recommend to also taste Indian dishes. Same story was also for dinner. For sure you will not be hungry in this hotel. My advice is to come on meal on the beginning of meal time, because hotel is always full and sometimes you maybe need to wait few moments till stuff clean and prepare table or refill dishes. Stuff is nice and polite. Receptionists speak English well and if you need something, it is quite ok to ask them, just leave enough time for satisfy your reasonable request. In restaurant, stuff don't speak English as well as reception, but enough to satisfy your needs. Hotel work as clock. If someone can't solve your problem, immediately will call someone who can. You just need to ask or tell. Hotel have possibility to arrange transportation with reasonable prices and this service is my warm recommendation. Especially if you wish to go in downtown to see or buy something. Hotel is on good location, on the road and all parts of Chennai is easy to reach by car. Near hotel is Zoo. Very nice to visit, but go there with the car, even it is very close. Hotel has independent bar, where you can spent free time with beer and snack, but also you can order food, wine or soft drinks. Bar has smoking area. Recommendation for bar staff is to spent more time for cleaning of smoking area. Generally speaking about India, from European point of view, everything is big, far and slow, so make good organization and don't do anything in the last moment. At the end, Kalyan Grand is right choice for business base in Chennai, with quality service, nice and polite stuff and fair rates. You get more than you give.

The check in appeared to be quick but they were not sure which king room to give us. As we entered room 309, it had a moldy smell. Humid room. Mattress was bad . I thought I would sink to the floor. Could not find the switch to the lights. Has to turn off the main and realized it turns off the charging and woke up to a uncharged phone. Just one bar of soap for two guests. Fortunately two towels were provided. Breakfast had a lot of items. No complaints. I just had bread and omelette. By now the AC cooled the room to 25C. And the room was humid. Called Aftaab at front desk and told him we are checking out and asked for a bell boy to take luggage down. As I was walking out after 8 minutes, they said I need to sign something, and was asked to make myself comfortable in a hot and humid reception area as they wanted clearance from house keeping. I told them they had a full 8 mins to check if j had stolen a refrigerator or the mattress or their non-functional AC. And they wanted to check everything in my way out. I had a flight to catch. And left. Best to avoid this hotel. 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor made me come here. Not sure who is rating them so high.

We had a family function here and it was amazing. The food in the buffet was delicious and the service was great. Chandni, the Banquet ***ager, took great care of us and organised the function very well. I strongly recommend this place for any family events, parties, etc...well done all.

We had worst experience with this hotel. No safety for families. Some other guest entered our room with different key. We complaint in the reception and they said wrongly issued the same room number for other guest.

I stayed with family for 5 days. Its the best hotel if you would want to go to VIT Campus, its around 30 mins by car. The airport is around 50 mins away so all in all an excellent location. If you fancy visit to Zoo, its walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious and well kept. The restaurant in the hotel is good and we had our food here most of the days. If you like variety you can visit veg restaurant "Thiru Vasantham" (entrance is facing the main road) which we found later on which is good specially if you like south indian food. All in all a good choice.

A class and calm rooms for busines stay. Very (s)low staff. Waited for long at gate to get in. Located on the GST road, since, very easy to access. Cramped car parking on the sideways. Very neat and clean. Fine restrooms. Fit for business stay.
