Clean, spacious and decent room. Value for money. Excellent location. Very near to beach, temples, U S consulate and offices. Very good service. Good vegetarian restaurants, with lots of varieties. Reasonably priced. Lots of parking space.

Conveniently located at the heart of the city, the rooms, though generously spacious and well-kept, bear the mark of aging construction. Yet, the staff co****sates with their warm and welcoming demeanor.. However, in comparison to contemporary standards in lodging, boarding, and dining, New Woodlands appears somewhat dated. The absence of welcome drinks, card keys, robust WiFi, and modern bathroom amenities is noticeable. The hotel earns its acclaim for its exceptional South Indian cuisine served in the renowned restaurants. Even amidst the aging infrastructure, the dining establishments consistently deliver delectable fare with efficiency. The rooms, while suitable and fitting for a brief stay, may not align with the contemporary expectations of luxury. Notably, the pricing remains reasonable, making it a sensible choice for those seeking both affordability and convenience. Although they did not charge for the early check in at 12 noon, they charged half day for check out at 8pm. Situated perfectly on Radhakrishna Road, the hotel's prime location is undeniable, and seems to be a popular place for those attending the US visa process. The hotel proves advantageous for exploring key attractions, including Marina, Beach, Valluvarkottam, and Kapaleeshwarar temple, all within a half-hour radius.

A very good place to stay with homely atmosphere. Rooms are very spacious and clean except the construction is old. Very friendly staff. Location is excellent bang on Radhakrishna Road. We have been patronizing this hotel for ***y years. The ambience is extremely good and the restaurant is a connoisseurs' delight.

Usual place of stay. This time, a few aspects bothered us. 1. We were given a deluxe room, the window of which was right next to a building under construction. There was hammering and cutting noise until late in the night and bright lights throught the night. We could have been given a room on the opposite side (for sure, rooms were available). 2. All of a sudden, both the cold and hot water taps were giving piping hot water, which burnt our daughter's face and hand. We had informed this to them during our previous stays as well. But, they seem to ignore this plumbing issue. 3. The fan in the rooms are too low.

Not ***y from the generation of millennials know, but if you take a little effort to read, you will know that “Woodlands” is a legendary brand which has a history of close to a century. When compared with modern lodging, boarding and dining standards, New Woodlands still looks like it is caught in a time warp. Don’t expect welcome drinks, sprightly dressed wait staff and receptionists, super fast WiFi or a well equipped bathroom. Looking around, it was sort of obvious that the hotel is frequented by regulars of an older generation. Perhaps some of them have seen Woodlands glory days. When it was the talk of the town. When the Queen of England came over to wine and dine. When Woodlands first conceived and then established the gold standards of Udupi hospitality. Those days are well behind However, the food is still excellent. The restaurants are still delivering excellent food and mighty efficiently. The rooms and suitable and apt for a short stay If you are in Madras/ Chennai for a US VISA appointment, there are hardly any better places from the perspective of location. It is pretty central if you want to visit the city, being less than half an hour away from the must-see places of interest like Marina, Elliotts Beach, Valluvarkottam, Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Pondy Bazaar and so on The prices are reasonable as well as long as you don’t expect great service

A classic Chennai hotel that reliably provides high-standard, comfortable accommodations. Rooms are consistently clean and staff is professional. The hotel is centrally located in Mylapore, making it a convenient place to stay, and offers excellent services on site, including excellent room service. The hotel is an inviting home away from home with fantastic restaurants — highly recommended for short and long stays.

I must have stayed in this hotel about 15 times in the last decade or more. I have hardly anything negative to say about it. Defining Expectations Woodlands is a hotel which gets everything right – hygiene, food (taste and quality), laundry, billing processes, taxi availability, reasonable pricing, amenities, and much more. It even has a swimming pool (though not functioning in October 2022). But, it makes no pretenses about what it does not offer. If you are looking for luxury or opulence, Woodlands is not for you. If you are looking for an extremely efficient industrial establishment of a hotel, look no further. There will likely be some mild annoyances, but no deal-breakers. Pricing The rooms are reasonably priced. In fact, I suspect that people would be willing to offer more. I have stayed almost exclusively in their Deluxe Suites, which have a small sitting room in front and a reasonably large bedroom inside. On my latest trip in the middle of October 2022, this worked out to a little more than ₹3,500 per night. Food is reasonably priced too. For the kind of menu it offers, you would think that the food could be cheaper. However, I am not complaining because the standards of hygiene and quality fully justify the prices. Unlike in the fancier hotels, laundry too doesn’t feel obscenely expensive. So no complaints on pricing particularly considering its prime location. Rooms I will only describe the deluxe suites because I have mostly only stayed there. These rooms are in one section of the hotel, most of which has been renovated. The unrenovated rooms have some charm because they have old-style mosaic flooring and the rooms keys show Woodlands as being in “Madras” and not “Chennai.” It feels like going back into the 1980s. The sitting room and the bedroom each have an AC. As I said, no pretenses of luxury. So you can either turn the AC on or off; there is no temperature control, there are no fan speeds, etc. The renovated rooms have what appears to be vitrified flooring. None of the rooms have king/ queen beds; they all have twin beds which are placed right next to each other. I found the sofas in the sitting uncomfortable, and I am of average Indian height. I presume they must be more comfortable if you’re taller, but I suspect you’ll be in a knees-up position. The bedroom has but one chair, which I think is insufficient for a room of its size. There are two bedside tables, one on each side of the beds. They are of ideal height and space and are positioned conveniently under the switchboards and a plug point. Overall, most things in the room are exactly where you would like them to be or expect them to be. The ACs are floor mounted, so you can keep small things like wallets and car keys atop the ACs, if the massive room doesn’t somehow offer you enough convenient storage space. Across most of one side of the room is a wall-mounted counter that must be about 10-12 feet long. A sufficient television occupies one side of it, a tea kettl

Very old property and room size is good with good AC, but most of the electric points were not operational. House keeping was very bad as they had not cleaned the room for three nights where I stayed. Even water was not replenished in the room. Location of the hotel is good but service is too bad.
