Sonder — Essex on The Park

Location perfect and view magnificent. It even has a washer/drier *with* detergent. However, the care and maintenance of the furniture and place leaves to be desired. Shower was constantly dripping, chairs were missing parts, and sofa bed was basically destroyed upon arrival.

I arrived excited to see a clean space but instead I walked to Trader Joe’s and bought cleaning supplies. The app charges 98$ for a cleaning yet the apartment was filthy when I arrived! So if I paid for a ‘cleaning’ I would be very disappointed. The convenience of this building is amazing and I felt safe walking alone to grant park and other destinations in the area.

Had an amazing stay here at Grant Park. The views were amazing. The only downside to its design were the blinds. The bedroom blinds should be blackout or have a curtain as additional sun blocking because the rooms were very bright.

We have an increíble experience. The building ir very beautiful and the design of the room too. The only problem was the matterss that ir very thin. the hours of the pool and the gym for tourists could be more extensive since one arrives late from traveling all day.

We had an issue with the website crashing when we booked. Didn’t think anything of it as I got 1 confirmation email. We check in and are co formed and given our ONE suite. The suite’s walls are bagged up and dirty. A closet door had been smashed through and patched with what looked like duct tape and painted over. The modern couch from the picture was a cheap itchy loveseat. Oh and the perfect surprise was the dirty sock we found in the bedroom. We were told we would request a pool key and one would be brought. After an hour of no key, my husband walked down and the woman didn’t even speak just threw the key at him. After all this, I looked at our credit card bill and low and behold they charged us for TWO suites. Contacted them and had no resolution . They said I booked two even though I have only ONE confirmation for ONE suite AND was given only ONE suite at check-in. feel like we were scammed. Do NOT recommend.

+ Great location + very nice view + nice big bathroom - the bed is a tad too small for 2 people (it's a 140) - quite a lot of noise is coming from the outside hallway - cooking equipment incomplete and in poor shape - outdated TV set, not equipped with basic streaming apps - Netflix or HBO - missing a power cable to the Marshall loudspeaker

No parking. Have to request pool key which didn’t arrive until 2nd day. Room was supposed to be big enough for 5 people. there were only 3 chairs at the table and enough seating in the living room for 3 people. furniture was extremely uncomfortable. one of the beds made tons of noise and moved when you got on it. sheets were super crunchy. Also, whoever uses the sofa bed is going to have to deal with whatever is plugged in the outlet (WiFi?) because it flashes like a strobe light. We ordered food and then realized that we had to go down to get it at the front desk And you have to track your order because the front desk won’t tell you that your food arrived. The bedrooms had so much dust that the walls looked like they were growing something. I took pictures because I couldn’t believe how much dust there was. And the floors were obviously dirty, being barefoot was not an option. The only clock in the whole place is on the microwave and the mirrors in the bedrooms are just haphazardly against the wall. If you need darkness to sleep this is definitely not the place for you because the city lights can be seen through their version of a window covering. Taking a shower was awkward because there were no shelves so you either had to hold your shampoo bottles or keep bending over. Also, one of the bedroom and bathroom doors was so squeaky that if you left the room to go to the bathroom at night it woke people up. Would not recommend.

Apartment was perfect! Views were amazing and location was great. Highly recommend to anyone staying in downtown Chicago area. We loved having a full kitchen and washer/dryer. The workout room and pool area were an added bonus. Highly recommend the sushi restaurant on the corner as well.

Place was clean, quite, and homey. View was great, everything I needed was available. Service and security were amazing. Completely obsessed and will be staying here again. Right in front of the beach, all entertainment, and Michigan Avenue is just down the street.
