Lockgate Dairy

The cleanliness of this property is poor. We found cobwebs, dust and dead bugs all over. The shower curtain is so mouldy it has little movement. There were handles missing off of the wardrobe so screws were poking out. We were given a travel cut to use and the whole outside bag was covered in green mould. We then let the company we used know about this and received an actual threat from the owner of the property. He threatened us with legal action! He is the rudest host I have EVER come across. I chose to write this to save someone wasting their hard earned money!

I made a genuine mistake with my online booking, the dates were correct but the month was incorrect. I gave the owner notice but he refused to amend the booking for the correct month and charged me in full. Disappointing to say the least!

Lockgate Dairy is a gem - our first stay in the area. Our host Martin is delightful and attentive - love him and this beautiful property in this wonderful place. We made ourselves comfortable in a sweet cottage boasting awesome, rustic features, offering lots of quiet space to relax and unwind with everything you might need for a memorable time. Appreciating the kindness in the offer of this unexpected upgrade and local insight given. Very helpful All being well I look forward to visiting again! Down to do maintenance on some graves in St Mary's Church yard, this location was ideal for us. It was also just over 3 miles to some friends of ours. The room was light and airy, bathroom well furnished, the host pleasant and the continental breakfast good. We will stay again. Rooms are comparable to the Crab and Lobster, but at a much lower price. PS: The Anchor pub has some pretty good food,

Great place to stay. Very comfortable room with high quality furnishings. The room and en-suite was very clean and well looked after. Martin is a great host and very helpful with knowledge of re local area.I would fully recommend staying here

We had a nice stay here. Lovely place, well supplied and well furnished. Heating and hot water all good. Sadly no book of instructions so we had to contact the owner after checking in to ask specific questions regarding the property - wifi code, check out instructions etc. We arrived for check in but got sent away for an hour and a half, he promised to pay for our round of drinks that the pub but never did. Also charged us for 6 adults despite me informing them one person was no longer coming over a month in advance. The delay would have been ok but we were all travelling from overseas and the UK to attend a surprise birthday. The late check in really left up pushed for time. There was plenty of parking and it was a comfortable stay. I hope the owner makes some changes to the service offered as this place really is fab. Sadly just a few easily fixed things let it down.
