Noel Arms - "A Bespoke Hotel"

Lovely hotel, excellent location in the heart of Chipping Campden - within 50 metres of the starting point of the Cotswolds Way - great ambience and friendly staff. We added to the experience by staying in their oldest room, complete with four-poster bed dating back to 1657.

Arrived to find the photo of hotel is misleading as it is not the picturesque view expected. The hotel front is on the street. Our room (26) was at the back of the hotel and to access you have to walk around the back - no access from inside the hotel. Handy for getting suitcase out the car mind as it backs onto it. Room 26 is ground floor and has windows to both sides. These were old fashioned windows that slide up and down only making it not particularly safe to let air in at night. You could hear car’s people drive/ walk right by your window and some folk don’t seem to have any consideration of the time when having a conversation outside one or both windows! The room was quite small but the thing that disappointed us was, it was a Chris**as gift and the room was supposed to be a double bed. It was, but 2 single mattresses pushed together on a double base. Extremely uncomfortable and not at all the ambiance expected. Other niggly things that are being taken up with the hotel but just feel people should know these things before booking. Such a shame as the area is really pretty.

I was given a Virgin Experience for my birthday, and chose The Noel Arms Hotel. The staff and food are exceptional, but we were given room 23 that wasn't. When we went invthere was a noise, that we worked out was the extractor from the kitchen. We asked at reception and they said it would be switched off before 10, but it went on all night, so very little sleep was had. Also the room was exceptionally hot, although there wasn't any heating on.

Classic British pub, restaurant, and hotel. It is located in the exact middle of Chipping Camden, but the village is small enough the wall end to end in 10 minutes. The room was large and comfortable with bed, wardrobe, desk, and two sitting chairs. Breakfast was excellent and substantial.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful village. Geat bar, very nice restaurant, excelloent food and drink ande very comfortable and quiet rooms. Above all, delightful, friendly and helpful staff, (especially Julia on reception). Can't wait to go back.

The rooms are tired with shabby furnishings. Bed bases torn and fraying. Shame because these things could be easily repaired. Outside seating / decking area needs a good clean and painting. Or just pick up discarded cigarettes. Severe lack of staff, resulted in very poor service

Went with family including toddler for an evening meal, as we are staying nearby. All over it advertises dog friendly, but when we turned up with the dog they seemed annoyed and flustered and said we had to sit somewhere else. Squeezed us on a table too small and we had to get our own high chair. Booked table at 6pm (earliest they’ll do an evening meal) so that toddler wasn’t too tired. They were slow with every element of service, from bringing menus to taking the order. The barman/waiter who took our order was the most disinterested person I’ve ever been served by. We ordered food at 6.15pm and it didn’t arrive until 7.20pm, there was no warning the food would be this long and no apology when it arrived. They just did not care. I want to add the restaurant was moderately busy at best but absolutely not packed, as you’d expect for 6pm. We wondered if they’d forgotten our order as a couple arrived at 7:30 and had food about 20 mins later. If that was the case no one was forthcoming with information or an apology that we’d been forgotten. We ordered from the standard menu without edits or extras. When food arrived we weren’t asked if we wanted to order more drinks. At no point were we asked how the food was and our payment was taken in silence again with no interest in our experience. I have to add that the food was delicious. I had the prawn Thai red curry and it really was fantastic. I’d be gutted if I was the chef there - clearly very high quality but being let down by the rest of the team. Would not return.
