My significant other and I had the pleasesure of spending a few nights at 31 On The Terrace a few years ago (December 2019) and I still recall the experience since the proprietors are just about the sweetest people in town. So hat's off to Rob and Debbie if they're still running the place. We booked the smallest room there, and it was still great. Side note: Remember to bring a car if you visit Denmark, since most attractions are far away. We forgot and the proprietor took pity on us and gave us a lift to the local brewery (also worth a visit).
Thumbs up We had a very relaxing couple of nights at the Chimes Spa Retreat. We arrived after 5 pm and information left for us at reception very detailed. Our Chimes Platter and bottle of sparkling wine (on ice) was waiting for us in our room. Room large and spacious, very clean with a lovely view of the garden from the balcony. Day Spa treatments wonderful - staff friendly and engaging. Dining room and reception welcoming Continental breakfast lovely. Thumbs down 1. Information sent prior to our arrival was not acted upon eg massages and facial booked for Saturday afternoon but not recorded in the system. 2. Request for no flour products - still received bread and crackers with our platters and noodles with our lunch. 3. As a part of our order when booking we requested a $70 champagne lunch for 2 people - this was not organised and we were offered a refund however we opted for a later lunch at 1.30 pm to allow time for staff to prepare a meal (noodles and teriyaki chicken) 4. The $70 lunch value is questionable. 5. Disappointing to see that local wines were not provided with the Chimes Platter and Champagne lunch. 6. When ”please clean my room' tag hung to remove Friday night platter dishes and dirty glasses - they were not removed, and were still in our room when we left on Sunday.
We've stayed in quite a few different accommodations in Denmark over the 13yrs of our marriage, and love to return whenever possible (especially for anniversaries). Mostly we love b'n'bs, but find the ”b” on the end variable to non-existent (how do Air B'n'B get to advertise as such when no breakfast is supplied?) We actually cancelled the original choice because at the last minute it just didn't feel right, and selecting Windrose was absolutely the right decision! So much so that we probably won't even bother to look at anywhere else next time we visit. Eco-friendly is right up our alley, and the quirky, rammed earth building set in quiet bushland and frequented by birds and frogs is a wonderfully tranquil place to spend a few nights, or more. The Moaning Frogs were just appearing and the chorus grew each night, but not to any disturbing volume. The new mattress in the Forest Room was extremely comfy and we slept early and well for 3 nights. The disability rails in the bathroom of that room were helpful for my husband and having a small line for hanging wet towels and swimmers outside was very useful after our swim at fabulous (and freezing!) Elephant Rocks. Anna is a delightful, friendly, accommodating host of 21 years experience. Her breakfasts each morning cooked to order were delicious, along with freshly-baked bread and a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and toast breads. The German sausage and mustard were much in demand. We found meals shared around the common table with other guests to be most enjoyable and added to the experience.
