I stayed here solo for one night for a running event the next morning. The cabin served it purpose but needs a few repairs/upgrades. The heating in the room was shocking. One heater which does not heat the entire cabin up. There was a heater in the bedroom cupboard but it had wires hanging from the top so I was not keen to touch it! The bathroom sliding door doubled as the cupboard door which was a bit odd and it didn't slide very well. Lastly the WIFI was limited to 250 or 500MB. which I was surprised at as the advertisement said ”free WIFI” not ”250MB free WIFI”.
If you are staying for one or two nights then this hotel is a good option. The rooms are large, clean and the bed is was very comfortable. It is basic, some of the rooms have been updated, some have not. I had a ‘budget’ room but it was well equipped. Air conditioning is mainly through the door frame. The hotel is in a quiet area and you can walk down by the river or to the beach in a few minutes. On the downside, the restaurant was closed indefinitely. There was a loud rooster nearby that fired up at 4.30am every day as an early alarm clock. There were a lot of contractors staying so the Ute’s firing up and idling at 6am served as the second alarm call! If I was passing through on a shorter stay I would stop again but for anything longer I would try elsewhere.
I stayed in room 6 Before i could even check into my hotel room, It was discussed and agreed upon that someone would be waiting at the hotel for my late check in. I arrived at 9;15pm, pub was completely locked up and shut.... I rang the 2 numbers on the door went strait to voicemail, my employer rang the number he was given... Went straight to voice mail, the security guard who saw me waiting in the rain freezing cold, called the number he had and still went to voicemail, which left me no other option but to book in somewhere else after i've already organised and paid for that room. Outside lobby area carpet smelt like piss, My room was unclean (cockroaches in bowls and cups that were left for me to 'use', windows have no fly screen... It lets big blowflies in, at night the windows let mozzies in. If you shut the windows you end up really sick like me, and having to go to the chemist to get something to clear out my sinuses from the mould and mouldy smell. Bathroom vanity taps did not stop leaking, dripped all night and day. Timber around vanity was rotted at bottom and wood was stripping, shower head and stem was on the wrong way around so i couldn't adjust it, bed was very uncomfortable and stunk, ii had to spray the entire room with glen 20 and even stripped the bed and flipped the mattress which didn't help at all) after approaching staff and management from the hotel with my concerns, i was told that ”the rooms are cheap so you have to come down to front desk and tell staff when you want linen changed and room cleaned (this was after 6 days) After approaching manager on 7th day she told me, that they only change the sheets every 7 days, not to mention I only had 1 pillow and it smelt like every head on Australia had rubbed on it. I highly advise against staying in particularly room 6, if you have a tent you're better to stay in there.

The rooms were beautifully furnished, clean, and well-maintained. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. For dinner, I ordered the ”Roast of the Day,” which featured roasted lamb, salad, and chips. The portion was generous, and the meal was absolutely delicious! Kudos to the Raindrops restaurant team. I've already spoken with my family, and we've agreed that this will be our go-to place to stay when we visit Burnie next.
Upgraded to a King room. Which sounds good, but wasn't. Rooms was very old and in need of update. Cupboards, wardrobes and drawers extremely dirty and I wasn't putting my clothes in them. Only a tv in the lounge and none in bedroom. Shower hot water had to be on for at least 2 mins before it got hot. All power points on the bottom of the walls next to floor, making it impossible to use power bricks for recharging. Some staff cannot understand simple instructions. I was doing the right thing and pained them to let them know that I had excess milk, so didn't need any more in the morning for breakfast Apparently this meant I wanted to cancel my breakfast. Went to reception a week before and explained my new checkout day would be moved from a Tuesday to a Friday. Girl wrote it down on a post it note and I assumed it would be fine. Received a phonecall on Wednesday that I haven't checked out and I have to vacate as fully booked. I have travelled for work for over 15 years now and this is the worst incompetence I have ever come across. Food, while nice, is grossly over priced for what you get. The $45 dry aged steak was OK. But $25 ok .. Would I stay here again..NO. Would i recommend this place...NO.
Given the price, this is clearly a budget hotel, and it's a great value for the price. The basics. We had a nice sized room. The bed was good, though not great (an old style - but not old - spring type). The shower was very good. The towels were fine but not lush. Free parking, free wifi. Good heating/AC. Largish but not huge TV. Decor was minimal, probably to keep down costs. But we don't rent a hotel for the ¹pictures. Location was good, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. It does not have an ocean view (if it had it would have cost more). The desk is not attended after 7, so if you needed something from management late at night you were out of luck. Boxed breakast available - we didn't get one. Lunch and dinner available, we did not try it. Laundry off the lobby, but annoyingly, it was open only during the business day..
