"Perfect location! It is within walking distance of Mingsha Mountain. The “western”dining hall on the roof is the best place to enjoy sunset (without climbing the sand dunes) - a benefit only available to the hotel guests. An additional perk: The hotel offers a free drink (free cookies come with drinks). The hotel looks like an ancient Western Region fortress, and the room is decorated with local ethnic style. It is not brand new, but everything is clean and well maintained. We stayed there two nights. The food were good, and the staff were nice and helpful when checking out potential allergens for my daughter. Highly recommend this place!"

"The original member of staff that checked me in was extremely unprofessional. We were a family that came to visit with all permanent residents cards ( Green Cards ) and the way it was handled with very unprofessional. 1. The hotel should be aware that they don’t need to photocopy permanent residents cards as we are treated the same as local ID cards. The manager needs to train staff. I appreciate it’s rare to see but it wasn’t handle correctly. We have done amazing things for the country, China - and to be treated like this was disgraceful. One woman who helped us to our room, she was totally amazing! She was very professional- she understood professionalism and great customer service. We won’t ever forget such a wonderful woman. The hospitality industry is very important- every detail counts. However the negative impact can last a lifetime. I would like to thank the wonderful woman at this hotel and I truly hope you become manager of this place so you can show some staff members how to treat customers."

"The hotel is well located in city center and provides complimentary pick up/drop off service from train station. There is a direct bus which goes to mogao caves right in front the hotel- making self transport a breeze. Room is spacious and nicely designed with a large bath tub. Apart from the hotel hardware, what really stood out was the extra mile services offered by the staff. There are 2 staff who really shine. Firstly, Ms tong tong （彤彤）was very patient in explaining all the touristy sites around and how to get there. She helped us book performance tickets so we could enjoy some discounts. When we enquired about transfer to liu yuan, she not only checked for all the information online for us but also personally went to the bus station to find a driver who goes to liuyuan. We're so impressed with her extra mile service!! Really kudos to her great personality and service. Next staff to mention is Mr li (李师傅）who picked us up at the train station. He suggested some dining places to us and offered to drop us off at mogao caves when we bumped into him at the hotel lobby. Overall, highly recommend to stay at this hotel."

"While there are limited parking spots directly in front of the hotel, there's a spacious parking lot around the back, complete with EV charging stations! We had booked a king room but were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a family room. The room also came equipped with a humidifier, which was a nice touch. We had a pretty good stay overall! On the 6th floor, there's a laundry room with nine washing machines, though no tumble dryers. However, they provide a drying area. I'd heard clothes could dry in just over an hour; being from the humid south, I was naturally skeptical. But I gave it a try, and to my surprise, it actually worked! This place is truly incredibly dry!"

"Room look new and really clean. Very spacious with huminizer and superb value for money. Receptionist are friendly polite and really helpful particularly Xiao Huey who provided all information on local trip. Coffee making machine available at reception area. Highly recommend"

"The hostel is within walking distance to a lot of great restaurants. It’s about 15’ by taxi to Mingsha Shan and 30’ or less to Mogao Grottoes. From train station, it’s about 30rmb or 6rmb ride by public bus, although i wouldnt know how close the bus stop is to hostel. Anyone with a big suitcase, please be aware that the hostel is located on the second floor."

"The hotel was pretty alright, with a nice and big size room plus an in room washing machine (sadly, no dryer), it was a good choice. Apart from some improvement needed for checking in/ checking out process, the staff were friendly and helpful. We really appreciate the room upgrade and the late check-out services."

"It was a completely unexpected state guesthouse-level experience. Since its construction in 1979, the hotel has received many dignitaries and VIPs as a state guesthouse. The murals in the lobby of the north building and the flying fairy in the lobby of the south building are definitely national treasures, and can be called the first cave of Mogao Grottoes. Although the rooms of the old four-star hotel are small and the equipment and facilities are a bit old, the hygiene is very good and the service is very considerate. The breakfast alone is 40 per person, which is a little expensive, but the quality is beyond reproach, especially the fried dough sticks, which are absolutely state banquet-level, and the beef noodles are the standard answer to Lanzhou beef noodles. In the off-season, you can enjoy the state guesthouse at a relatively low price, which is great value!"

"Hotel was very nice. Everything was clean. Room big enough for two people. Not much noise. Night market and many shops nearby. Stuff can not speak English but were very efficient in using translation apps."

"This time I had a great experience staying at the Sheraton Hotel Dunhuang. It is the first brand chain hotel in Dunhuang. Dana at the front desk provided very good and professional service. She also gave me a complimentary Haagen-Dazs ice cream when I checked in. The hotel room was clean, if a little small. The breakfast was also very rich and the beef noodles were very good. The overall experience was very good and the service was thoughtful."
