Find the Cheap Carlton Hotels

A friend and I came for afternoon tea this week and I am sorry to say that the food or lack of was the biggest of disappointments. The decor was lovely and the service we received from the young gentleman was exceptional. Regarding the food or lack of: the 3 tier stand consisted of x4 tiny crust less white bread finger sandwiches each on the lower stage (mediocre fillings), the middle stage had the equivalent of a small espresso cup each of carrot & orange soup & a pinch of salad leaves and the top tier held a small dense scone each with one small pot of cream and jam to share. The waiter then brought in separately a plate with a cupcake, a tiny amuse bouche style tart and an equivalent size square of chocolate cake each. For a £25 per head price tag, despite the lovely setting, the cakes could have easily been placed on the cake stand and there would still have been plenty of space remaining! Sorry Colwick Hall but you really need to up your game! Afternoon teas elsewhere really put you to shame 😳

We stayed in the hotel over the weekend (Fri, Sat & Sunday) as we were attending ”The Gloworm Festival” with other family members who were glamping. The room was small, but was perfect for our activity which was get up, get ready, and go out to the festival! We slept like logs as the beds were nice and comfy. Using the bedroom as a base to be located in and to safely store our belongings was perfect. The TV in our room was the size of a postage stamp but who cares, we were at the festival. It fit the bill for our needs so we give it a thumbs up. On leaving we spent a few minutes chatting to a lovely staff member who brought some festive cheer to my mood (I am sorry I did not catch the gent's name but we will call him ”Santa Klaus” for those who know! But what a lovely man to have at the reception desk. Was it the best hotel I have visited, no. Was it the worst, no. But for our weekend it did all we asked for and for all that was needed. A safe warm place to sleep with safe parking and nice staff.

This is our second time staying at a Leonardo hotel. Reception were amazing!! Very helpful and informative about transport links and general sight seeing. Breakfast was not as good as the Leonardo I. Milton Keynes. Their fruit selection was a little poor, however the staff were friendly and accommodating. The bath in the room is the smallest one I have ever seen 😂 Albeit the power of the water in the shower and taps is 👌🏽 and quite possibly the best I have seen. Over all, a nice hotel! The beds are very comfortable and will rival any premier bed. We will defo be staying again 😍

It’s very convenient to live in Mercury Hotel to plan a tour in Nottingham. Regarding the excellent location, I can only take 1-minute walk to the tram station named Lace Market, it takes you to Beeston or remote retail outlets within couple of minutes. Also, I takes leisure walks within few minutes to city centre for shopping at M&S, Primark, Victor Centre, etc. Besides, you may never forget supports/advice from the enthusiastic and knowledgeable hotel teams.

My husband and I have just returned from an overnight stay in this hotel. It must have been recently decorated as it is so clean and fresh everywhere. Our room was huge, with a super-king size bed comfortably accommodated within it. Lovely comfortable bed and clean bedding, and a bottle of water provided for each of us. There were tea and coffee making facilities; very welcome after a trek up and down to the castle! The bathroom was well-appointed, modern and clean. We had a view over the adjacent church, and although a footpath passed by we were not disturbed at all. The hotel is well-placed to visit the city, and there is a car park just round the corner. The parking fee is reduced if you verify your parking ticket at the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Cock and Hoop next door doesn’t serve meals on a Sunday evening, but it didn’t matter as there is a range of restaurants within a few minutes walk. The building itself is old, and very interesting with steps up and down all over the place. Very attractive and quirky. Our breakfast was delicious. I have only one small issue. There is no plug near a mirror for using a hairdryer or hot brush, but that doesn’t detract from the score.
