"We stayed here in mid-October to see the autumn leaves.
We arrived at night, and the exterior lights were beautiful.
Soon after entering the room, we were greeted by two stink bugs, causing quite a commotion.
There was duct tape and instructions on how to get rid of stink bugs in the room...
My husband reluctantly managed to get rid of them.
There is one indoor and one outdoor hot spring. Men and women alternate in the morning and evening.
Even though we had tags on our slippers, someone accidentally put them on, which was a bit annoying, but the hot spring was great.
Since there are foreign guests, I think the tags should be written in different characters instead of hiragana.
In the morning, the sun shining on the mountains, visible from the outdoor bath, was beautiful.
There was a strong sulfur smell, and since we were relatively close to the hot spring, it lingered inside our room.
If you don't like sulfur, you might want to request a room further away from the hot spring.
The breakfast and dinner buffets were very extensive, and both my husband and I were very satisfied. Everything was especially delicious for dinner; I ate way too much.
There's nothing nearby, but it's fairly close to Hachimantai, so if you have a car, it's a good location.
The autumn leaves at Hachimantai, which I was looking forward to seeing, were at their peak around the middle of the mountain, and I was moved by how beautiful they were. It was so beautiful, yet not too crowded or deserted, which was great. Maybe it's a hidden gem?
The area around the hotel seems to be at its best around late October. I'm sure there will be autumn leaves somewhere throughout October that you can enjoy.
I wasn't able to participate, but it seems they also hold evening explanations about Hachimantai and stargazing events, which I highly recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy Hachimantai to the fullest.
It would be even better if they could take better measures against stink bugs."
"The B&B is very close to Appi Plateau and provides ski pick-up and drop-off services.
At the same time, other employees are also asked to take care of the pick-up and drop-off, so there is no problem for the B&B to go to the ski resort for easy skiing.
The more problematic thing is how to get to the B&B. If you need to take a bus to get your ski equipment, it is quite a distance from the bus station to the B&B. It would be difficult to push your luggage for 20 minutes in the snow.
If you ask the B&B owner to pick you up at the JR station, you will need to call to communicate, and there are pick-up time restrictions. The website does not explain this clearly.
In addition, the communication between trip.com and the B&B is not very smooth.
You have to confirm your accommodation by phone in person. The owner is also a chef, so he doesn't reply to emails very often. Trip.com AI online customer service cannot help.
I think it would be ideal to drive here by yourself.
I had a good breakfast and was ready to go skiing.
But dinner is very simple and may be a bit full for some people.
The B&B provides discounted ski tickets and ski equipment.
Overall, I would be willing to stay at this B&B again if the problem of getting to the B&B can be solved."
"I loved my stay at this hotel! The staff were absolutely incredible, the room was very spacious with a western style room attached to an 8 tatami tea room, and floor to ceiling windows highlighting the snowy exterior. The onsen with indoor and outdoor pools were fantastic, and most people staying at the hotel wore yukata which gave the whole experience a tranquil vibe. The bus from Morioka goes directly to the hotel. It was a perfect traditional Japanese hotel."
"The location is good for the family ski holiday with all facilities available for this ski-in/ski-out hotel. The breakfast has a good variety while the dinner options are good especially the Teppanyaki restaurant with the local beef and abalone. The Japanese restaurant was also good with various dishes to choose from. The outdoor onsen at 白樺之湯 really worth the visit after the ski and I’d recommend to enjoy at day time. We have also tried the hotel massage services and it was really good and relaxing! The only thing for improvement is that the room themselves are a bit old and maybe should consider renovations in coming years. The shops have many food and drinks and souvenirs. We also got a big pack of fireworks that we can pay together with kids just outside the hotel on the snow slope.
Overall we enjoyed the stay and the slopes and ski school are magnificent!"
"Thank you for your hospitality.
We were able to bring our pets with us and it was a fun trip. Until now, they had to stay at home alone.
The food was delicious, too.
I would like to go again if I have the opportunity."
"Service is OK, food is good, and hotel facilities are average. After all, it is a small business hotel, but the location is very good. Near the station, there are many restaurants near the hotel. Three words are said to be sun flat."
"Rooms were great and dinners super tasty. There were also other fun facilities like onsen, karaoke, arcades, ping pong. So it was all good!"
