"I usually don't leave negative reviews, but Hotel Taisetsuzan was the exception during my entire Hokkaido trip. 1. The hotel's exterior and lobby are nice, there are even performances in the lobby at night, and the hot springs are good. However, the toilet in the room constantly smelled, which was a first for me. I was too tired to report it to the hotel. 2. Since the room was a tatami room, there weren't many amenities, not even bottled water, so I had to go downstairs to buy some myself! 3. The service was alright; the futons were already laid out during dinner. However, it definitely didn't live up to the 2000+ yen per night price tag!"
"The hotel is a bit old but the frontdesk staff was very polite and helpful. Carparking is easy which is only outside the hotel.
The room is sizeable and quite clean though the bathroom lighting is below the mark.
The buffet style dinner is a real surprise even though I prefer to try Japanese style dinner. But the staff were unable to fully advise us the food choices in English that we had to find them out by ourselves."
"The hotel is tired looking. It is badly in need of a refurbishment. The buffet dinner and breakfast is only average. The room is old and we were only given 1 room key which was most inconvenient when we go to the onsen separately.
The onsen is quite good though old and dim. The best thing about this hotel is the mixed outdoor onsen which is big and has a beautiful view."
"The hotel offers free shuttle bus to take you to its sister hotel (5 minutes´ ride) which is a larger and newer one with a great open air bath for guests to enjoy. Free snacks and drinks are offered in that hotel."
"Super quiet and clean traditional Japanese hotel. You dont need air-conditioning in this area as temperature is around 20C in summer. There is heat available in the room. Friendly staffs. Good value breakfast. Highly recommended."
