There are hot springs ♨️, breakfast, dinner, dinner is very rich, it is Genghis Khan barbecue, the place is very quiet, the waiter is very good, I like the hotel very much, there is a chance will come again next time.
I chose it because it is called ”hot spring where you can travel in Hokkaido by Shinkansen”. It was an online reservation, but I received a confirmation call such as the room on the 2 floor without an elevator and the room with only a shower. At that time, I was able to make a reservation for a private bath. A few days before my stay, I received an email from the manager and a call to decide dinner time. The hotel can be seen from Onuma Station. Walk 5 minutes. When you enter the front desk, you will find a nice atmosphere like an overseas resort. You can drink coffee and tea, and there is a bar lounge (with time limit) to relax. Even adults can enjoy the railway diorama and railway goods in the lounge. There were various customers such as couples, couples, and families. The room was the smallest room, but the interior was devised and functional and I didn't feel much narrowness. I was worried that the room with only a shower and the large communal bath were open-air baths, but it was not colder than I expected because of the good weather. I used the large communal bath 2 times, but it was reserved. Despite the busy season of the private bath, the reservation was not crowded, and I used it at 2. (1 Some places are reserved in advance. There are already vacancies on the day of 1.) Bath towels and towels are convenient in the bathhouse other than the guest rooms. And what should be noted is the meal? A menu that you can enjoy with your eyes according to the concept of ”delicious Epuy”. Meat, fish, vegetables, mushrooms, homemade bread dinner, breakfast full of vegetables and dairy products. I was almost hungry in the center of the local area. There were many young staff, but it was a customer service that conveys the feeling of hospitality. On the way back, despite the station Chika, he sent me by car because my feet were bad. When you try to find a place to stay for the purpose of hot springs, the elements of Japanese will inevitably become stronger, which is also attractive. However, it was a very satisfying trip that sometimes seemed to be good for hot springs like Epi and good inn like children in resort hotels. This time it was a relaxing trip to enjoy the snowy scenery, but I would like to revisit Epi to look forward to cycling and walking in different seasons. It was a trip that noticed the goodness of southern Hokkaido.
This hotel is located pretty deep in the woods, it's a bit scary to drive there after dark, but once you reach the main building, there's a large parking lot close by. (There are a few buses go to the hotel as well, but beware nothing is within the walking distance) The hotel is quite big but somehow has a cozy feeling I can't really tell why, probably due to a combination of lighting, texture and smells. This is most obvious in the guest rooms. My room wasn't very big. It didn't look fancy, it didn't even have a view (just trees outside). But I still felt comfortable just to be there and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was also a lot quieter than I expected, with fewer tourist groups than other major hotels I stayed in Hokkaido recently. They do have a laundry room for guests, which is very rare for a hotel at this level. The one thing that disappointed me was the dinner. Yes the restaurant had a good view to the lighted swamp outside, but the portion was ridiculously small and the taste wasn't good enough for the price tag. Because there's nothing within walking distance, I had to drive out to the nearest convenience store to get more food. The breakfast buffet was great though, with a huge selection of items and good taste. The hot spring bath was pretty small, but had a unique setting that feels like it's connected to the lighted swamp outside. When someone enters the pool, water will spill out into the swamp below (I believe). The bathing experience was natural and tranquil. You can also walk into the woods around the hotel to experience more of the local nature (though there are a lots of bugs). Overall I think this hotel feels pleasant and is surprisingly cost effective if you skip the dinner.
This was the perfect location to stay overnight on our trip between Asahikawa and Tokyo. We had travelled by train from Sapporo and were switching to the Shinkansen at Shin Hakodate Hokuto. We had booked a room with two beds which turned out to be either double or queen. We also hadn't realised that the hotel has an onsen, so this was a particularly nice surprise. The beds were good, and the Japanese style pillows were okay, too - sometimes they can be a bit hard, or too fat. The hotel is clean and modern with nice toiletries and yukata supplied. The only slight disappointment was that the restaurant was closed on the night we stayed (a Friday), but there is a Ramen restaurant downstairs in an adjacent shopping area, and this was fine.
I ended up here between a late night arrival on the Shinkansen from Tokyo and morning departure to Sapporo on the Hokuto and found it to be another consistent stay with a Toyoko brand hotel. It ended up being cheaper than the La'gent Plaza that was closer to the station and it also offered a free breakfast. The non-smoking single I booked was typical of a Japanese business hotel and check-in/out can be done in several languages with the automated kiosk at the front desk. It definitely is a suitable stay for those who have overnight transit between trains or are willing to save a bit more on their Hakodate visits but indeed don't expect much in the immediate surroundings. To add on to THAM38's mention of the Hanamasu Club and its hours, there's a Seicomart that's about 15 minutes down the road that closes at 11PM if anyone is pressed to need something from a convenience store and is willing to make the walk.
