The facility is really old, but it was kept clean by the staff's hard work with luxurious furnishings, construction and design. There are cheap hotels where the bottom of the bed is dirty, but it was cleaned properly.
However, there were many places where I thought it would be nice to wash the facility with a high pressure washer, but I wonder if that is also a taste.
The coffee in the breakfast buffet is so sour that I don't feel like having it.
Recently, there are many places that use bean grinding machines, so how about changing them?

It was really nice with the sea and sunset that spread from the room and the open-air bath in front of me!
Check in to see the sunset from the hot spring, and immediately went to the hot spring and was soaked until the sunset was sunk :)
The dishes were delicious, but the service was never polite.
It may be impossible to prevent infection, but it was not very preferable to sit next to each other even though it was not a couple at meals. I always remove the mask when eating, so I thought that the prevention measure would make sense...

Great and fresh food. There 21 rooms altogether in the hotel and the dining room is spacious for the guests. The big bath area is good with an open area. There is staff speaks good english.

The camping lighting and speakers were also available, and the facilities were substantial.
The person who guided me was also good, and there was no part to worry about.
Speaking of strength, there were several parts that I was worried about the durability of the floor, but I think it would be okay if it was standard weight.

The hotel is on the island of Dokano, drive to the dock parking lot, and then carry luggage on the boat. It is inconvenient to encounter heavy rain when you check in, but the hotel hot springs and food quality are not wrong.

1. The photo posted by this website was a lie - the room was very different to the reality. For a start there was no in room onsen and that had been a major factor in me making this booking. I was really disappointed on arrival.
2. However it has to be said the staff are fabulous, the food excellent and everything about the place shows a tremendous attention to detail. After a lovely long soak in the Onsen available to guests and a fabulous dinner my mood was quite recovered. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for someone looking for a luxurious retreat and plan to return myself.

２ The wall was rough and the child was injured on the wall of the bedroom.
I thought that wall was very dangerous if I had a small child...

GGuest UserIt was very helpful to use the shuttle service to the nearest station and to Parque Espana. I was especially impressed that they took the trouble to come back to pick me up from the nearest station, even though it was fully booked! There was a large public bath, and the breakfast was more delicious and had more items than I expected. There were no convenience stores around the inn, so I went shopping near the station before heading out, but there was a small shop inside the building. I would definitely like to travel there again, especially when I go to Parque Espana.

The food was delicious and there was a wide variety of options.
We were able to go fishing before dinner and breakfast, and my husband was very satisfied as he caught rockfish, pufferfish, and horse mackerel.
This is an inn we would definitely like to visit again.

There are few options for rice and the price of rice is high.
Do you need French?
There are a lot of restaurants around, so it's not a problem, but people who live in the city center are treated to this kind of food and service on a daily basis, so I wish they would offer dishes that can only be eaten in rural areas.
If you're in the Shima region of Mie, wouldn't it be nice to have a charcoal-grilled seafood and other popular restaurant inside the hotel?
If you go to eat even though breakfast time is set
There will be a waiting time.
If the seat is empty but you can't turn it
If you decide whether you want Japanese or Western food at check-in, wouldn't you be able to specify the time?
Also, I'm sure there are many people who don't like their wives and children who have insects indoors, so I wish they would take more precautions.

KKennyMy stay at Shima Hantou in Shima City, Japan was a delightful experience. The location of the hotel is convenient, earning it a solid 4 out of 5 rating. Although it is a bit far from Ise City, it's easily accessible by car, with just a 1-hour journey.
The hotel's cleanliness also deserves a commendable 4 out of 5 rating. As a traditional Japanese hotel, the exterior has a charming appeal. While the interior design may not be the most modern, it is still well-maintained and clean.
One aspect that truly stood out during my stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and always ready to assist, earning a perfect 5 out of 5 rating for service.
In terms of facilities, the hotel offers a basic hot spring bath, which was a relaxing experience. However, it's worth noting that there is only one pool for bathing, and the absence of a cold water bath and sauna facilities somewhat limited the options. Therefore, I would rate the facilities as 4 out of 5.
Overall, I highly recommend Shima Hantou for a pleasant stay in Shima City. The location, cleanliness, and exceptional service make it a great choice for travelers seeking a traditional Japanese hotel experience.

GGuest UserIn the hotel in the tourist area, the facilities are a bit old, but fortunately it is clean, the door is opened with a key, very nostalgic. The bath is a natural spring. When it arrives late, there are no people. The experience is good.

GGuest UserAs expected, it was newly renovated, clean, spacious, and stylish. The large public bath was also clean, and the service was good everywhere.
The problem with the facility is that there are not many elevators compared to the number of rooms. When checking in or eating, no matter how long I waited, I couldn't get on the elevator. I wish there were stairs.
Also, I chose the ocean view, but it wasn't like the hotel was on the coast, but rather the ocean was a little far away. I think mountain view is fine.
Also, I wish they would increase the number of employees a little more. The service is not keeping up.
If you are planning to stay in the near future, I recommend that you eat at a pub a little further away near the station instead of the buffet on weekends and other days when it is likely to be crowded. The rooms are spacious, so takeout might be a good idea. The buffet is crowded both in the morning and evening, and you have to wait in a long line to get rice and miso soup. And when it's your turn, it's empty. It takes several minutes for it to be replenished. It seemed especially difficult for parents with small children. The food is at the level of a family restaurant, so I think it would be less stressful to eat there and check in later.
The staff are also working hard. I can't say anything. I wish I had eaten outside instead. If you're in a hurry in the morning, I recommend eating outside.

The facility itself is certainly old. However, since it is a hotel with sufficient ingenuity and service to spend the room comfortably, I think it is a comfortable accommodation. There is no big problem with taking parents who are old and have difficulty walking. Mr. Nakai? However, it was a hotel with a warm impression that served me hard.
