Hotels Near Williamwood in Clarkston

Two days at The Open at Royal Troon this week (Jul 24) and searched TA & Google for convenient hotels. Stumbled over The Redhurst - 30 min drive from golf course. So - took a punt. WOW - WHAT A FIND! OUTSTANDING value for money. Very modern and lovely furnished small hotel. Restaurant was excellent. Bar - well designed and great buzz. Bedroom, though not huge, was good enough and really well furnished, equipped and super comfortable bed and delightfully presented. Ver clean, well furnished with great in room nibbles ( be warned!). Ensuite with shower was well designed and furnished. Dinner menu was not large but more than adequate - simple straight forward good nosh. Crispy BBQ chicken strips , as a starter, is a must- delicious . Their steak & ale pie - WINNER! Meat quality was excellent & plentiful. All freshly cooked, hot and very very tasty. BUT.. the absolute star(s) of the show were the staff. Rarely have I met such young, motivated and customer focussed staff. From front desk, through bar to breakfast & dining staff - all were simply outstanding. They could not have done anything to make our stay any more pleasant. OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this hotel whether visiting on Scottish golf tour or Glasgow.I will be organising a golfing trip back to the West coast & will definitely be visiting again this lovely hotel. We travelled from Ireland to stay in your premises for 3 nights. Everything seemed OK on arrival. We went to the room but I had to make a complaint to reception about the shower which was not working correctly ( as stated on your website ensuite rooms are refurbished to luxurious standards), I wouldn't call a shower hose from a mixer tap luxurious. To this I didn't get a satisfactory answer. We left immediately without having  a good inspection of the room as we were pushed for time to meet with friends for dinner. On return that evening as we were about to go to bed we pulled back the bed clothes and saw what looked like body hairs  on dirty sheets. On closer examination we saw a filthy duvet cover, undersheet and a badly stained mattress which was absolutely disgusting. There was also a bad smell from the bathroom among other descrepencies which I won't go into now. We made the decision not to stay so I went to reception to complain and request the return of my payment as the room was not fit for purpose and I feel that it was mis sold to us. I brought your supervisor to the room and  Of course he dismissed my complaint and queried why we left it so late to bring this matter to his attention in a way that was condescending to me even after explaining  the reason. This was extremely inconvenient as we had to find elsewhere to accommodate us at short notice which proved costly, having to book into numerous hotels to cover our trip.

This is the second time I have stayed here for the half marathon in Glasgow. I choose it due to location for the start and finish but also as an IHG hotel where I hold Silver Elite Status. I wasn't recognised as a member at check in which is no big deal it is just other properties I have stayed at recognise your status. However, the checkin was prompt and efficient. Despite being early and asking for a high floor room the member of staff did his best to accommodate my request. The room was very quiet, old but well maintained. There are not that many plug sockets if you need to charge devices but the room was comfortable and the inclusion of a kettle and coffee is a small thing but very much valued. The breakfast was extensive and good quality although the time you choose to go it could be very busy but this is inevitable. Staff are great and replenish stock and clear tables quickly. The hotel has a bar with competitive prices. I would recommend this hotel it you are in Glasgow as only a 15 minute walk to Grorge Square area and the airport bus and numerous decent restaurants.

Having stayed here a few times before due to its location and reasonable price, I was left disappointed this time. I had booked this hotel because for some reason every hotel in Glasgow that weekend was unusually expensive. Hotels I would have expected to pay ＞£100 were £150/180. The jury’s was £111. A warm welcome from reception staff and the main lobby is modern and clean. The room we were allocated (618) was a bit dated. It was spacious because it was an accessible room, not at our request so maybe why it was cheaper than others. The above two points didn’t really bother us because it was just somewhere to sleep as we were attending a gig. Unfortunately we did not sleep very well. The windows didn’t do enough to soundproof the outside street noise, the walls were paper thin and you could hear the neighbours talking, plugging and unplugging electrical items- all minor quiet stuff which you shouldn’t really be able to here. Our room had a buzzing noise coming from the vent in the room which kept us awake til 7.30am… and then the neighbours started getting ready to check out. We never complained during the night because we were so tired after being out all night and the noise was intermittent so just when you thought you were back to sleep, it started again. The room was clean but as I said dated, and for this reason I don’t think I’d chose to stay here again.

The sleeping rooms in the hotel are going to be renovated starting in January 2023, so everything I have to say may be moot in 6 months or so. Anyway, I attended a conference at the hotel, so this is the only reason I stayed here. The rooms are tired and are definitely in need of renovation. The tubs are crazy deep, so if you are uncomfortable with getting in and out of a tub, be sure to request one of the few rooms with a walk-in shower or a shallower tub. If you’re taller than 5’8”, you’re too tall for the shower and will have to crouch over. The shower gets very, very hot and you have to be careful with the water temperature. We ordered room service several times and were happy with it. Eating the restaurant and bar was another story. The one time we ate in the restaurant was a disaster. We have to wait nearly 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and, when it did, it was cold. Sent it back, and the only thing that was warm when it came back 15 minutes later was the meat. There were very few people in the restaurant, so we couldn’t understand why it took so long. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, namely William who was able to move us to a room that had one of the shallower tubs.

Like the row of washers and dryers! Free usage and can book via the hotel app. Have ping pong and pool table for a quick game. Location is about 7 mins walk to george square. 5 mins to shopping. Very convenient But the house keeping team needs some improvement. Towels were not changed or not enough towels were given.

First class hotel with excellent staff and rooms,I stay here every week while working up Scotland. The rooms are modern and spotless with everything you need. All of the staff who I have got to know over the last year are excellent at there jobs and can’t do enough for you.breakfast is very good with plenty of choices, evening meals are good also. I would definitely stop here with my family rather than just for work

My wife and I planned a night out in Glasgow for our friends 40th birthday and booked this hotel for the night. I must say this hotel wasn't what I was expecting the front of house staff were really friendly and professional however that manager needs to learn she is in her position because of the customers and she should learn to speak to the customer in a more professional manner. In the space of 10 minutes while we were checking in we both saw her being disrespectful to 4 different customers. THE BAR and RESTAURANT The choice of drinks were ok however there was no draft beer available. They also had cocktails in the fridge however the barman refused to sell any to us due to the management not allowing him to do so. We paid for morning breakfast and they had a choice of continental or hot breakfast. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. THE ROOM The room was very simple. It had a small TV with standard free channels. The issue I had with the room was the staff only put 1 towel in the bathroom. If there are 2 people staying it should be policy that you get 2 towels. I cannot recommend this hotel until these issues are fixed and I will not be returning.
