I and two other hotel guests got trapped in a malfunctioning elevator at this hotel. The door will not close completely and the elevator will not move. The door will not open enough to allow us to get out. I called the front desk immediately through a phone in the elevator. I was told they will call the building engineer to take care of this. Ten minutes have passed and no communication from anybody. The other trapped guest called front desk on his phone. Was told that they are still waiting for the engineer. For the next 20 minutes no communication from anybody and the air was getting stuffy in the tiny elevator. The other trapped guest called again. This time, he was told that the engineer was gone for the day and that the fire depar**ent instead was called. It has been 30 minutes and the three of us were showing signs of stress. Finally, 40 MINUTES into the incident, the fire depar**ent was able to open the door to allow us out. NOBODY from the hotel was there to check up on us. NOBODY from the hotel apologized and made sure we were okay. But you know what the worst SAFETY thing this hotel did, was NOT DO ANYTHING after the incident. People started piling up to use the faulty elevator. I took it upon myself to inform people NOT TO USE the elevator that I have been trapped for the last 40 minutes. When we confronted the front desk person about people readily using a faulty elevator, we were dismissed and ignored. Not even an acknowledgement or apology when confronted personally. I asked to speak to the hotel manager/supervisor when I got to my room regarding the incident. He at least did show up. He claimed he did not know about the situation. Really?!? The fire depar**ent shows up in the hotel you are supervising within the last hour and did not know anything? I told him isn’t the protocol for any safety issue in the hotel to record the details of the incident and get names/numbers to make sure everybody is okay, and of course, to make sure any liability issues are addressed properly? He said he will get back to us. He never did nor anybody else working in the hotel did. The total lack of any concern or protocols for PUBLIC SAFETY towards their guests was appalling from this hotel. I also read the other reviews here and in Google regarding safety issues with this same hotel. Please do read them, as some of them I have verified to be true and is still a potential safety and security issue for guests in this hotel as of May 2024. Bottom line, I DO NOT RECOMMEND staying in this hotel. If you value SAFETY, SECURITY, and CUSTOMER SERVICE, this hotel is NOT the place for your hard-earned money.
