Hotel Cleveland, Autograph Collection

Marriott’s newly named Autograph Collection Hotel; The Hotel Cleveland (HC) formerly The Renaissance Hotel is a beautiful place to stay. The HC is back to its original namesake from 1918 before being changed a few times over the years. The hotel is beautiful with so much history practically everywhere you look. The majority of rooms are renovated and tastefully decorated. They offer all the room amenities; Aveda toiletries, safe, mini fridge and even a shirt/dress steamer in the closet! They are still renovating a few floors and have put over $90 million into bringing this hotel back to its glory. Ok, there were a few things still needing finishing touches but it’s a huge place and it is historic being over 100 years old! The new food selections are fresh, delicious and offer a nice variety. The staff service is exceptional from Ana at the front desk, Renee and Heather serving in Mowrey’s restaurant and the GM Frank McGee were all so nice! They were not only friendly but very personable! We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay here and would make this the only hotel of choice for downtown Cleveland!

I stayed at the Renaissance Cleveland with my daughter. We were in town for a concert and thought it would be nice to stay somewhere that had connected walkways, espcially since the concert would end late and we thought for safety connected was best. I would have never guessed that I would be the most unsafe while staying in my room. I fell asleep shortly before 1 am and just before 2 am I was startled out of my sleep by banging and screaming. A man was going up and down the hall, screaming about getting in a room, screaming about his bags, screaming profanities. We immediately called the front desk and they said "the police have been called". After we hung up the man began screaming that he was having a heart attack and he was dying. Because he was so volitile I did not go to the hall and just hoped the police would come. It took the police over 20 min to arrive. The arguing continued and the yelling continued to come and go. Then we hear someone say "you're going to stab me" and a few minutes later we hear "we will have to evacuate the floor". I know that the hotel cannot control a person's actions. BUT the hotel does have security that clearly didn't step in and not only that, this violent person was allowed to stay on the floor - they didn't have him escorted out. After the police left, he continued to pace the hallway. I wasn't able to sleep at all - I was worried about what actions this person could take, I was worried that we would have to evacuate the floor. I finally fell asleep around 630 am. I was woken back up by a wake up call that I didn't request. To top all of this off I was charged a significant higher rate than what they had advertised! Yes, the hotel adjusted my rate slight. But when I remarked about the incidients the night before they just blew it off. For what we paid, I would have expected so much more

Due to the remodeling project, many items that i was hoping for were closed or inaccessible. Also, i chose a view room, but was provided with an interior view of nothing.

51 years old, and was the Worst Renaissance Ive ever stayed out. Floors were disgusting, stained, Three shades lighter under dresser. Elevators, disgusting. Construction & dirt everywhere. Bathroom disgusting dirt in all corners. Smelled like homeless people with pine-sol poured on top of them. Way way way overrated. Should be 1 star. Motel 6 in columbus ohio, 100 times better. Will never ever ever stay there again. worst ever & i never write reviews but I was disgusted especially for $300 a night. What a huge disappointment for wedding anniversary

Even with construction easy to find your way quite and helpful staff great over all stay

Booked a suite 10 mo ago for the tree lighting. They gave us a different room (smaller) but charged for the suite. They said we can stay or cancel. 10 mos of family planning and got an oh well Ruined our holiday

Rooms were clean, hotel was quite, within walking distance of everything

We love staying here. It's connected to the Jack ****** so we don't have to go outside to enter. Not very safe around the ******. It's getting to be very expensive to stay there tho. The price was almost 3X's the amount from our last stay. And it's not a 5 star hotel by far.
