Good: Very friendly staff, clean, walking distance to bahnhof and shops etc. Breakfast not too expensive, healthy and sustainable.
Room for improvement: small rooms with no fridge. Unable to connect tv with streaming service.

Staff are brilliant. Could not fault them! Great a**osphere in the bar, great location. Facilities are basic but ok. Had a great nights sleep despite our room being right next to the lifts. Only thing I would change is that the hand soap and shower gel in our room were half full which gave the impression that someone else had used them.

We were in Cologne for 3 days. The hotel was modern and the rooms were neat and clean. Nice staff and the nice man at the reception was super great. We felt well looked after. One minus point, however, was for the breakfast. It was OK but we were missing a few things like egg dishes (scrambled eggs or omelettes). Unfortunately no tomato mozzarella. Lactose-free milk was available but unfortunately no lactose-free yogurt. Parking garage directly below but €22.50 per day with a discount from the hotel.

Had a terrible nights sleep. Awoken very early by delivery men. I didn't realise but our room on the 1st floor was over a the street that services the shops. Deliveries, bin collections.
Breakfast was a free-for-all. The hotel put up a sign advising tof the busiest times, but I wasn't expecting the chaos of breakfast time.

Had a great experience 5 years ago - since then both the room service and the condition of the rooms seem to have gotten significantly worse. In the newly cleaned room there were brown marks on the glasses, after room service a few days later there was a booger on the "fresh" towel. Lots of scratches on the walls, a very, very slow TV. Parking was pretty expensive. Breakfast was great, great bar, great location. But very poor hygiene. I reported both problems to reception, sorry - that was it.

I don't mind the Motel One chain. The quality is definitely high and standard throughout. Motel One in Cologne is no exception, in fact it is one of the best. Among other things, it is also quite close to the city center, which can be reached with a nice walk. Very nice common areas, I slept in a nice room, basic but clean and with everything you need. Comfortable bed, good soundproofing, air conditioning ok. Abundance of electrical sockets for charging various devices. Clean and modern bathroom. I felt good. I'll be back.
