Great view from grounds, less impressive inside. Shocking £4.00 for lime and soda water. Queried cost with bar staff, one agreed shouldn’t charge that much and he’d raise it with gaffer when in next. Didn’t offer to resolve whilst we were there.

Just returned from a 2 night stay and we absolutely loved it!! It’s such a lovely hotel overlooking Coniston. All staff were amazing, made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in and looked after us throughout. Lovely room on the top floor, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great with lots of choice, it set us up nicely for a day on the fells. Food in the bar was delicious.

A hidden gem. First time we stayed here hut we WILL return. Rooms are beautiful and the views are breathtaking. We stayed in room 6 🤩 This place has it all - traditional Lakes style pub (great beer) with beautiful stylish rooms. The whole building oozes with charm. The staff are wonderful - so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The location is perfect just up the hill out of the village so you feel you are in the wilds but if you wish you have the village for different places to eat and grab a drink. Outside there is a lovely garden area with incredible scenery of the mountains. Some wonderful walks right on the doorstep so you do not need to use the car until you have to leave! Free car parking (always a bonus in the lakes) and you can bring the dogs! Honestly, this place has it ALL - thanks for a brilliant stay and we will see you again soon.

Fantastic quality of food and a**osphere. However, the staff were beyond Fantastic. Overheard Andy speaking to a staff member about shift cover and can honestly say that more managers need to learn from him. Acknowledged the staff members hard work and asked if he could help. Went for drinks and dinner - fabulous location overlooking the hills, plenty of space and very cosy. Attentive staff, great selection of ales/beers (freehold!) as well as whiskys! Food amazing and generous portions freshly prepared in the kitchen on the premises - probably the best pub and food in Coniston, VERY glad we went would definitely come back!! Anne with brother Ole

We were able to take advantage of the good weather on Easter Saturday and sat outside for drinks and lunch. We also had two dogs with us who were made to feel welcome (as with everywhere we visited in Coniston!). Drinks service good and food was great. Served by Amir who was polite and attentive. We also visited on two more occasions over the weekend for drinks only.

The hotel has leaks in various places mainly over the bar. Bedroom was uncomfortably cold.

If you want a fabulous Sunday dinner after a days walking the look no further than the sun coniston. Absolutely superb beef dinner with all the trimmings. I really liked that there was an evening option for a Sunday roast as I was able to enjoy a walk in the day and then have a traditional roast, all ready looking forward to my next visit
