Delicious pints and good selection of pizzas. Pizzas pretty reasonably priced for the lake District too. The young lad from Hunts Cross serving us was a brilliant and he made us laugh so much - honestly the kid deserves a raise he was ace. What a guy!

Good music, good food, great atmosphere, fantastic staff. Everything you want for a good time on your holiday!! I will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area. Big shout out to pizza chef as our pizza was to die for!! He must be Italian to make a pizza that good

We hadn’t planned on eating here but hadn’t been able to get a table elsewhere. It was very busy but the staff were really helpful in squeezing us (and others) in. It took a little while for our orders to be taken but given how busy it was it wasn’t a long wait. The food was good. We had roasts and they were well cooked. The vegetables were lukewarm warm - sorted with hot gravy but I can see how some might have issues with that. All in all an enjoyable meal

We were unfortunate enough to go into this pub/hotel for Sunday lunch. It was busy and had to wait for drinks and food order to be taken. One of our party has to have GF food including gravy. When we ordered we were told Gf gravy not available so fish and chips ordered instead. Then she was told they would make gravy especially for her no extra cost! Anyway when the food arrived it was luke warm and some of the meat I had burnt black. I sent mine back and it was replaced by better meat but still luke warm all served on cold plates. My friends GF gravy duly arrived barely warm and lumpy. We noticed a lot of plates were not emptied. We did complain and did get a discount. That's not the point we were looking forward to a good Sunday lunch and willing to pay but quite honestly this food was disgraceful. I came back to where we where staying and made cheese sandwiches- yum!

Only two of us. Told the wait would be approx 1 hour for food. After 2 hours and tables being served before us, I asked where our pizzas were, they replied our order has mislaid! When they arrived the crusts were burnt so we couldn’t eat the whole pizza. Whether going for a pint or food, it’s table service only so you have to wait elongated times to get served. Worst thing was that a bar tender accidentally smashed a couple of glasses where my child was sitting but didn’t sweep the floor leaving large and shards of glass directly behind his chair. Poor health and safety culture. Shocking service but on a positive, the staff were really nice and polite.

We had a lovely visit recently which started off as drinks only but quickly turned to food too. The hospitality and ambiance was so welcoming we decided to have food. The wood fired pizzas were fantastic in particular nduja and ricotta pizza. For a nice cosy pub with good ale and food which is value for money you couldn’t any anything more. Special thanks to Connor nothing was too much trouble.

Went for a meal to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was a Thursday evening during the Easter holidays & we were a family of 4. We booked a table for 7:30 & arrived a few minutes early. We were told that they only offer pizzas at the weekend & they’d run out of burgers. We placed our order (mains only) soon after arriving. When we were ordering our second round of drinks before the food arrived, the waitress asked if we’d like to add some crisps or nuts, which I thought was a rather bizarre thing to do, but we agreed as it didn’t look as though our food was arriving any time soon. Our meals eventually came at 8:40, an hour and ten minutes after our table was booked for. The food was fine but nothing special & not worth waiting so long for. We decided to order desserts but of the four choices on the menu, one was unavailable & one only partly available. With so many pubs in Coniston to choose from, I definitely made the wrong choice tonight. Even more disappointing as it was supposed to be a birthday treat.

Had a meal this evening. Service was good, Fish and chips were good However the pizza was awful, I ordered a Di palma the Parma ham was as thick as bacon and they forgot the Parmesan cheese so sent it back it returned with greated parmasan. It was advertised as shaved Parmesan, cherry tomatoes none , I had a very very small spreading of tomato and it also said mozzarella and fresh basil they were no where to be seen… the driest pizza I have ever had and this is my go to pizza when out. I did tell the waitress I got a sorry about that..

Food was superb , from eating in or ordering it to go the quality was amazing. The staff are welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful and understanding when I needed a bit of extra assistance. This is truly a lovely pub with warm friendly atmosphere and lots of delicious food to try and choose from. Can’t wait tobe back in Coniston later this year.🙂
