Relaxing Time at Lake Coniston. Its an Inn with rooms and full of Dogs in the restaurant, can be overpowering and annoying.

Stayed for one night in June. This hotel is seriously overpriced for what you actually get. Clean enough and the staff were very pleasant but it doesn’t warrant the price. At best it’s a 3 star hotel. The rooms need to be updated and refreshed, whilst clean they are dated. Our room overlooked a wall and the kitchen fans. The air conditioning unit was really noisy. The grounds are nice except for the sewage smell out in the grass. Food is probably the worst I’ve had eating out for a while. Had the pasta dish and it actually had zero flavour. It’s a shame because the location is fab and the public areas are a lovely standard. Breakfast - minimal but no complaints. If it had been half the price we paid - £300 - I d probably have given a half decent review but it was very disappointing for the cost.

The only reason I am providing this 1 star review is due to the completely unusable wifi in the hotel. If you need to connect while staying then suggest you go elsewhere. I could not fault anything else about the hotel and a special shout out to the staff who were 1st rate and clearly very embarrassed about the wifi. What is unforgivable is that the management of this hotel chain know the wifi is extremely poor and for whatever reason have chosen to ignore the problem. In this day and age internet access is one of the most critical aspects of most people's stay.

We stayed her on a previous trip and thought it was quite good. This time though we did not have a good experience. We arrived early and thought we’d get the check in formalities done and sit and have a drink until the room was ready. The young woman behind the bar was new so needed her manager to help with check in. He obviously couldn’t be bothered and sent her back to tell us she couldn’t check anyone until 3pm and then she walked away. We decided to go spend money elsewhere. The food for both breakfast and tea was ok but really nothing special and on day 2 the coffee at breakfast was undrinkable. We came back from a walk on Sunday at about 2pm looking forward to a Sunday lunch just to be told there was a 2 hour wait for food. This wasn’t a wait for a table, we had a table and there were loads of free tables. In fact it really wasn’t that busy. Again, we spent our money elsewhere. The room was a good size but very warm - it turned out that the heating was on. The bed was a little soft for our liking but otherwise the room was fine. The bar/dining area was in parts quite dirty. Not only were staff very slow to clear tables, even the empty ones were in desperate need of a wipe and many of the window ledges were incredibly dusty and some actually dirty. When we arrived for break the bar mats were hanging over the back of chairs and even though we were not there right at the start of serving, everyone seems in chaos. What made this a poor experience was staff attitude. Staff were not helpful or friendly, they didn’t invite us in when we arrived but just left us standing, every interaction was slightly rude and everything was incredibly inefficient making guests wait unnecessarily. Check out was the same as the staff member faffed about trying to check out 5 guests in a group, muddling up keys, accounts and paperwork Disappointed

We are staying close to the Inn and have had favourable meals during our stay. Our party of 5 decided to go for Sunday lunch but as under a party size of 8 unable to book. Just after 2.00pm we arrived to find the restaurant fairly full. There was just one girl behind the bar trying to serve drinks and take food orders on top of which a customer had taken ill and ambulance called. After queuing for 10 minutes we were told they were no longer taking food orders! Reasons large parties staff shortages no pot washer!! How on earth can a hotel within the Inn group sink to this! The lady in front of us ourselves and a number of people behind waiting to give orders all had to leave to find alternatives! The food is not cheap with drinks we would have probably spent £200. Times this by the people turned away would have probably paid for extra staff and 5 pot washers!! This is a lovely hotel and food excellent but how can they justify this on a busy Sunday afternoon.

Visited here for a few drinks and ate breakfast one morning ( we were staying locally ) staff were very friendly and welcoming. Large car park and lots of outdoor seating overlooking the lake. We found a side room which was lovely and quiet with relaxing chairs overlooking the old man of Coniston. Breakfast was lovely and the young girl on her own for breakfast service did a wonderful job despite under pressure. She was friendly and obliging and nothing was too much trouble. Quite expensive for food but most places in the lakes are the same. Would visit again for food-drinks if in the area

I seldom write reviews, but this establishment was terrible. The staff were extremely rude, particularly a tall, wide, bearded individual with glasses who was exceptionally arrogant. The staff seemed more interested in socializing among themselves. The food was dreadful; it was obvious that it was all pre-purchased and microwaved. The room was disgusting, with mould throughout the shower, stains on the bedding, and cobwebs in every corner. The head of housekeeping certainly needs to be dismissed! It was such poor value for money. I would never recommend this place.

Everything was exactly as we hoped except for our bedroom being far too hot - the corridor outside was incredibly hot for no obvious reason (underfloor heating??). Neither of us slept as well as we would have liked. Apart from that it was a lovely couple of days and we were happy with our choice. Very friendly staff
