We stayed her on a previous trip and thought it was quite good. This time though we did not have a good experience. We arrived early and thought we’d get the check in formalities done and sit and have a drink until the room was ready. The young woman behind the bar was new so needed her manager to help with check in. He obviously couldn’t be bothered and sent her back to tell us she couldn’t check anyone until 3pm and then she walked away. We decided to go spend money elsewhere. The food for both breakfast and tea was ok but really nothing special and on day 2 the coffee at breakfast was undrinkable. We came back from a walk on Sunday at about 2pm looking forward to a Sunday lunch just to be told there was a 2 hour wait for food. This wasn’t a wait for a table, we had a table and there were loads of free tables. In fact it really wasn’t that busy. Again, we spent our money elsewhere. The room was a good size but very warm - it turned out that the heating was on. The bed was a little soft for our liking but otherwise the room was fine. The bar/dining area was in parts quite dirty. Not only were staff very slow to clear tables, even the empty ones were in desperate need of a wipe and many of the window ledges were incredibly dusty and some actually dirty. When we arrived for break the bar mats were hanging over the back of chairs and even though we were not there right at the start of serving, everyone seems in chaos. What made this a poor experience was staff attitude. Staff were not helpful or friendly, they didn’t invite us in when we arrived but just left us standing, every interaction was slightly rude and everything was incredibly inefficient making guests wait unnecessarily. Check out was the same as the staff member faffed about trying to check out 5 guests in a group, muddling up keys, accounts and paperwork Disappointed
