We didn't stay here but had lunch on the day of of our arrival in the hotel part of the resort which was much like a pub with pub meals plus. The staff were very friendly. Meals were great, I had a lovel steak meal. After checking in to caravan park we then went for a drive around the town and then back to here to watch the last 60 laps of the V8 Super Car race at Bathurst. Another Kiwi working there put the back dining room tv on exclusively for us. Of course we had another snack and a few cold ones. Thank you for your great hospitality. Cheers.

Celebrated a friends get together and we all ordered 2 courses my husbands pork belly entree had no flavour. Then for main course my friend ordered the mushroom risotto which had no flavour and was very watery, we did complain and the rice dish was removed from the bill. The reason I am writing this review is both the waitress and the duty manager have had complaints about the risotto previously and the chef has done nothing about this, very sad. We would not return to this venue due to this experience

It was a very disappointing stay with Sovereign Resort from the unprofessional greeting on check in Extremely poor customer service from unhappy staff who complained about the conditions working there Restaurant food well we certainly didn’t see this being offered to the in house guest!!! Meaning us the only food that was worth paying for was the wagyu burger and mini bar Restaurant meal delivered hour and 40 minutes late and served Cold then had a rude staff member telling my husband it was hot in a terrible tone We did complain to managers a lady and gentlemen at reception who did say sorry but that’s it, so we decided to leave a day early (I did say due to hubby’s ankle but would have put up with this if the Resort provided better service and food) We were supposed to be having a celebration but instead left feeling so disappointed in your establishment what a waste of our time and money!!!!!

The grounds and public areas of this hotel are beautiful and very well maintained. Our 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment was clean and well equipped but unfortunately was on the ground floor with only a small ***** of sky visible from the lounge and main bedroom. The second bedroom was a bit like sleeping in a cave. I would recommend requesting a room with a view of the pool (or the street). Disappointing that bathroom amenities were not eco friendly - hopefully that will change in the near future.

We stayed at this resort hotel as part of a touring group and were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation, the meals and the professionalism of all staff we interacted with. Our suite was large, bright and airy with everything one would expect in a top class hotel. A great bar area and restaurant made for a wonderful place to relax at the end of the day. If ever we return to Cooktown, we would not consider staying anywhere else. Top marks to management.

This is a very nice hotel and base to check out the highlights of Cooktown, modern and clean with an attractive frontage. It offers large rooms and good bathrooms. The onsite dining area was likewise very good. It was quiet and the bed very comfortable giving a good sleep. The WiFi worked well. There’s are nice views over the town and Endeavour River from the upstairs balcony. It is a few minutes-walk to the waterfront, statues, and museum.

Spacious rooms with air conditioning (needed!). Pool was amazing and a lovely respite from the heat. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant - top notch! Special mention to the attention when we "complained" that the WIFI did not work. Apparently, it has recently been damaged in a bad storm. The router was replaced and the WIFI worked - thank you.
